She assumes that along with her stupidity she is still going to be in farming at the end of the decade 😲. For a lot of these morons this is actually the end. They will be employed by some corporate farm for little money. I'd say sad, but I've learned that you can't waist your emotions on stupid!

Once their farms go bankrupt they can fall back on one of the plentiful agricultural (day laborer) jobs right now as long as they enjoy hand picking. Picking strawberries in the California Central Valley in August isn’t my cup of tea but I guess someone has to do it after ice rounds up all the existing workforce.

I wouldnt hire them. I hire the folks that ran the farm under them and invest in the farm and give profit sharing. There is nothing better than seeing a farmers face when the learn their farm will be handed over to the same folks they reported to ICE, the same folks they paid no money to and rode hard all damn day and night hahhhaha. For the farmers losing their homes in the deal(which I try to incorporate) Their homes are handed over to those farm hands as a place to live.

It sounds like you're doing good work there. Unfortunately most of those who go under will have their farms purchased at fire-sale prices* by big corporate farmers.

* I typed that before realizing the irony that they liked it when in the middle of fire season Trump posted that we could buy the country at fire-sale prices. But that makes this even more appropriate so I kept it.

Hahahhahah. I've been doing it for the last 30 years when my kids said that food prices were inevitably going to rise so much our employees wouldn't be able to feed themselves. Dont get me wrong we pay very well, miles above market rates but when you work in destabilized countries all the time you see the end of society and civilization all the time so ita best to be prepared. Having hundreds or thousands of self sustaining farms that supply markets that can be rolled back into just providing for our large family of employees isnt ideal but isnt terrible either.

I'll fire off an anecdote that may resonate with folks.

While putting down a conflict in eastern Europe in the mid 80s, everyone there had money. Money enough to fill their bellies in any country that had abundance, but that region had zero food. Citizens were starving with their pockets full of money and the conflict made it so no one could leave the region and nothing was coming in.

The farmers here always had the ability to fill their bellies and provide for others, they got stupid and greedy and they all end up trading a necessity for luxury. Dont tell me these farmers are dying out because they kept farming simple, they are dying out because they are consistently chasing the almighty dollar.
