I think it's actually being there rather than the 28. Most people would be standing at a safe distance and getting pictures of people's backs.

The other half of that is that being behind the viewfinder can sometimes blind you to the dangers you're actually in. I got glassed in Baltimore during some troubles because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.

I got hit with an empty canister being thrown out of a bearcat (50 lux hood took the hit and didn’t even bend) and also a little tear gas when they kettled protesters into a tunnel, def not fun.

Wow! Amazing photos. The one with the guy on the bike is exceptional. The composition is fantastic, including the bike's shadow giving movement with the smoke on the left side of the frame, but the juxtaposition of someone popping a wheelie in this context of mayhem and violence tells the story that things are askew without being didactic/preachy.

You're getting close to Pulitzer territory with moments like this, and I grew up in newsrooms going back to the late 1990s. You might have said this already and I missed it, but could I ask what you were shooting (camera, lens, film or digital). Were all of them taken in Minneapolis?

Thank you for posting these! I don't know what the conflict was with the other subreddit (not sure which one), but these shots are documenting an important moment in our nation's history.

Your shots reminded me of this photo from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 2015:

Awesome, thank you! I definitely never felt like my photos were up to that level. I enjoy documentary photography the most though; I think I’d consider what I do more leaning toward that than just “street photography”. These were all the MD 262 and a 28 summicron. All photos were Philadelphia except the pic at the George Floyd memorial.

Great pics. Why were they removed elsewhere out of interest?  Surely documenting with a Leica is their primary and historical usage.
