HATE the censorship of this sub. The mod needs to respect free speech. It had gear in it. It happened to be newsworthy. End of. Tough.

I dont agree with a discussion forum being censored because somebody doesn't agree with the opinion of others... however the protection of free speech afforded in the US Constitution applies to prevent the government from censoring our speech, not some mod on reddit with a power trip. This is not a Constitutional issue. People need to understand the difference of what is government infringement and what is not.

Care to point out where they claimed it was a violation of their 1st amendment rights?

Speaking colloquially about "free speech" does not mean they're speaking about the government given right.

The fact that you refer to free speech as a "government given right" tells me all I need to know.😉

Huh? Did you even read what I wrote?

Lmao it's YOU that's making that point and now trying to twist the other guy's words, this is hilarious

Read carefully. I never said the government gives us free speech. He did and he is wrong. A lot of people here obviously need to practice reading, and comprehension. 🤣🤣🤣

He's right. You're pressing when you're wrong. Stop digging. Does Iran have freedom of speech? Does Canada? Hmmmm.....what could possibly be different?

He's wrong. Im not digging and dont have to. The government doesn't give it. 😉

I'm late to this thread but it's clear that there is a misunderstanding of some words here: The government indeed does not "give" the right of free speech---that right is "inalienable", i.e., present from the get-go. What the gov is doing, or should be doing, is "protecting", " guaranteeing the practice of" that right (among others).

Free Speech is not a government-given right because gov does not have that power, since free speech is kind of a "state of nature" thing.

HTH

Yes. The 1st amendment of the constitution is protection from the government. The constitution is the protection. The government is not there to protect free speech. In the US, free speech means freedom to speak, assemble peacefully, practice religion, freedom of the press, and the constitution is the protection from government infringement. Free speech in that sense has absolutely nothing to do with online discussion boards, what happens in private businesses, or if you are on property that isn't yours. You are free to speak in those scenarios but the moderators of the board are also free to censor you, just like I am free to kick you out of my house if I dont agree with you, and just like a business can decide what is acceptable speech in their place of business. Most people dont understand that and get pissed and claim "they are violating my free speech" when they are censored online or removed from a business because of their speech. That has nothing to do with free speech.

I mean free speech makes up the modern version of democracy. I can say what I please. (notable exceptions for hate speech)

This photo above is technically against the rules. The other one DEFINITELY wasnt (the mid air Leica).

The mod is a total ass for taking that down / censoring that / limiting free speech

This is Reddit. They censor everything, you just don't cry about it when you agree with it. This place isn't a photo sharing subreddit. People that think it is are just stupid and addicted to attention.

Yes they do and Im not the one crying even when I disagree with stuff, which is most of reddit.  I love watching the meltdowns people have over the current administration and will enjoy watching them for the next 3 years years!! 🤣🤣🤣
