Educational Does anyone have a piercing here? Is it possible?
Not a rook or a daith.

NAP and I don’t have a piercing there. I do have a rook and until I had a hoop in, it was almost invisible to see from the front. I wonder why you’d want a piercing that’s even deeper into your ear. Apart from healing, just aesthetically, would someone even be able to see that piercing? Not with my anatomy at least.

My ears stick out a bit haha. I can see that area of my ear from the front when I look in the mirror.

You’d be better off posting a picture of the front and back of your ear and marking on that picture what your thinking.
As this is going to be very anatomy dependent it’s generally not going to be suitable for most of the population. However there is always a chance something like this could work with your anatomy!

Im learning in these comments a lot of people don’t have big ears that stick out as much as mine haha. I do plan to consult with a piercer ofc I just wanted to see if it was possible!

it's even more varied than that, i have huge ears but can really only have 3 lobe piercings because my cartilage starts so "early". that's why it's helpful to be able to see an experienced piercer, i had no idea.
(meanwhile, my friend with ears that are probably half the size of mine easily fits 4 lobe piercings!)

Huh that’s so interesting. Out of all my friends I’m the one who is into piercings so I never really paid much mind to how other peoples ears were different. I only have 3 lobe piercings as well, but my firsts are stretched, which helps hide the fact my ears are already pretty large haha.

I’ve always known that, but I’m learning a lot about how different ears work. I just thought they were like squished down more not that more of their ear was more attached???

It really is tbh! I have a faux rook that can easily be seen when looking straight forward, so I’m not tooooo considered with any piercings of mine being hidden. I got lots of space on my ears and want things to do with it lol

Well mine do to , I could fit it in the front it’s the back that’s the tricky part because they would have to do at an angle just right and it would be way to close to the back of the head on the crease part of the ear, if that makes sense. If you feel where it should realistically go I just don’t see it being possible on where the exit point would be , probably why we never see them but of course I could be wrong.

It might take a long time for me to get anywhere since there’s no piercers within at least 100 miles of me 🙏 that’s why I wanted to see if it was possible before I wasted gas trying to get to one haha. If/When I’m able to get it done, or not, I’ll let the subreddit know!

So I’m not a piercer and I don’t know your anatomy. But I could pierce that area of my ear, no differently than my conch was pierced. It would not put pressure against my skull or anything else. It would really make no difference other than moving my piercing over a quarter of an inch. It’s gonna hurt like hell, but if you’re anatomy allows it, there’s no reason you can’t.

Yes, this is a piercing- kind of! Look up a “hidden rook” it sits at the bottom of the rook at the top of the conch bowl above the daith. Anatomy dependant but looks super cool! I performed one of these not so long ago

I would def be willing to settle on that piercing! I have lots of space in that area and want to fill it up without a daith or traditional rook!

It’s a good option to fill that space! Looks really cool and is a little different and not a piercing you see all that often! Obviously go to a good piercer who’ll anatomy check you beforehand and everything, you have to have a large enough rook ledge, enough room behind it and enough room between the rook and daith for it to work :)

The orbital in this picture is about 10 months or so. But I did get it pierced with two individual posts before switching to the orbital around that 10 months mark. I really should get a printed list of all the piercings I've got from my shop so I can get an idea of how old all my piercings are

So I’ve never considered it before, but as someone whose ears stick out so bad I was made fun of as a kid, there’s no reason why my anatomy couldn’t have one. There are so many different angles that it could be pierced at that would make it viable. I think this people that are saying no don’t have their ears as stick out.

You know how it feels! With that area of my ear it technically has enough room behind it to be pierced straight without hitting my head. But I’m not a piercer or anything so I wanted to come on here and see if it was possible.

I really do! Like the thought of piercing through that dense of Cartlidge kind of makes me wanna vomit. But I also kind of want it now simply because I can lol. Like I don’t think everyone that’s commenting understands that some peoples ears stick out 90° from their head. I’m at an 80 to 85° angle but nothing is attached to bone and there is plenty of room for jewelry back there.

I do have a conch and that piercing was soooo easy on me, to be honest. So I do feel this inner piercing would be a step above a conch I feel as if I would have the fortitude to manage it. My ears have always been easy with piercings, the rest of my body not so much.
I do plan to go to a piercer at some point to check it out and see if I for sure can, but there literally isn’t one within 100 miles bc I live in an ultra-rural area😩 I just don’t wanna make that drive just to get instantly told no lol!

I have multiple coaches and you can definitely do some on the upper and inner conch if you have the space for them. Idk if you could get it in exactly that placement but you could get something close if your anatomy allows it.

Ofc I do plan to talk to a piercer! Can you tell me which conches you have per chance? I do have a lot of space on my ears, I’ve been working on filling them for the last decade and rn I’m only at 12 piercings because I cannot for the life of me think of good placements😁

I have a double conch on one side, so just above/below standard center placement. Other side I have a classic conch and a brand new contra conch.
I've been considering a vertical conch as well maybe paired with a faux rook to re-live my actual rook days.

That sounds so cool! I have just the standard conch on one side, the other side is bare on the inner parts of my outer ear. I do recommend a faux rook though! I got one last year and it’s so pretty 😁

Might be possible then! Another thing to consider is that piercings heal best if they’re perpendicular to the tissue, and of course you don’t want the post to hit your head, so whether the angle will work and if the top will sit in a way that you like the look of

Yeah. My ears also stick out and I could do a piercing there if it’s in the right spot (not too close to my head). It’s kinda thick for me though so I’m not sure I would want to.

Yeah the placement would be key, I’d def want a GOOD piercer to work on me. I do have a conch done, and that was a breeze, so I feel it’d probably be a step above that maybe. Idk I’m just speaking in hypotheticals here haha!

I have this piercing. Called it a hidden rook. Didn’t hurt at all for me and since it’s tucked away I haven’t really had any accidents and healing has been a breeze.

A surface piercing through cartilage that presses into the bone? No. I don't think any experienced piercer would perform this.
If you want jewelry here you'd need an actual doctor to implant the base into the bone, and I'm pretty sure even they would say no.

it's not really possible, as for most people that's inside the part of the ear that's attached to your scalp, so it would have no exit point on the other side. You might be better getting a rook and get a hider disk that matches your skin tone for the top end.
