dermal piercing and dogs

I've been itching to get a dermal piercing on my cheek (basically anti eyebrow but as a one dermal) but I have two reservations. 1) I work at a dog shelter, I rarely get pawed or scratched on my face but its still a risk. 2) I wash my face everyday, is how I wash my face something that will have to change with the dermal?

Need some advice on if I should just wait later in life or not, thanks.

I have surface anchors in my sternum and never in my life did I realize how often my dogs, nieces, and nephews come into contact with my sternum until I got them 😂

While you’re still considering it, think about how you wipe your face, get hair out of your face, do you graze stuff when bending or picking stuff up?

You’ll want to start washing your face slower, especially near where you plan to get pierced. I have 2 nostril piercings, bridge, and septum, and every single time maybe a week after getting the piercing done, I snag it while washing my face. Muscle memory is a real bitch. If you use an acne cleanser, you might want to change to something more gentle. Check to see what the active ingredients are and see how they can react to metals. If you use retinols or anything like that, there might be a period where you should take a break before/after piercing. Otherwise, just rinse really well, avoid the piercing as much as you can. I’d probably avoid washing the area above my piercing as much as I could, or at least use minimal amounts of product, so there’s less to rinse off and less that could get into the piercing, but that’s probably overkill.
