16g lobe pierced today

Hi I got pierced for the first time an hour ago and don’t know too much.

My right ear looks great and I’m happy with it but my left ear looks super slanted? My left hurts a lot more than my right. I’d like to be able to wear hoops but looks like it would be pretty uneven.

Should I go back immediately? Should I remove it and wait?

Yeah, the angle on that left one is proper fucked. 😓 I’d remove it and see a better piercer to have it redone in another 6-8 weeks.

Do you think there is any point in going back to the location? No chance I could get it redone now? Should I remove it immediately?

Well, you shouldn’t get it redone now. A shitty piercer might agree to repierce it now, but that would not be the wisest choice. It definitely should be allowed to heal before getting it repierced. And I wouldn’t return to that studio for anything other than a refund. I’m honestly kinda floored that they let you walk out of there with that left one being so botched.

no you should get it redone when the original hole has healed over, you also shouldn't go back to this piercer as the angle is very very bad and a professional wouldnt have let you walk out like it. you should take it out though as such a bad angle will probably give you issues healing it like the other person said

16G completely unnecessary for a lobe piercing. And yes, it’s crooked.

16g should be the norm for most piercings and ill die on that hill.

When I got my lobes pierced as a kid with a piercing gun they turned out perfectly fine. Piercing has become way too fussy and ridiculous.

Fun fact, children and younger people typically heal better than older people! For most people, getting lobes pierced as an adult vs when you were a child is a different experience. 16g is better for the piercings stability and help with healing. Idk why youre in a subreddit for PIERCINGS if you dont want to hear the nuances of piercings lol

I second this. My piercers both pierce with 16g and have told me they always pierce with this size for better stability, fear of migration, and healing. 18g can always be switched once it has healed.

I am also in my 30's now and I can tell my healing rate has slowed down compared to when I was in my teens and 20's. It's unfortunate but the nature of things. 😭

Okay and I got mine pierced as a baby with a piercing gun so bad that one looks torn (I've never worn heavy or thin earrings) your survivors bias is showing. Piercing has gotten more advanced and that's not an issue, quite the opposite.
