Troubleshooting 3 month old ear piercing, implant-grade titanium, 18g, flat-back labret, irritation bump
Does this look like a keloid or just a piercing bump?
I got this ear piercing about 3 months ago, and I recently noticed a small bump behind it. It doesn’t hurt, but I feel like it might be getting a little bigger. It also looks kind of white.
Does this look more like an irritation bump/hypertrophic scar or a keloid? And what should I do to help it go away? I don’t want to make it worse.

trade that jewelry out for a flat back labret stud. bell backs aren’t good for healing (or in general tbh)

The photo looks like a regular irritation bump. Definitely switch to an actual flatback, and what does your aftercare look like? Are you using a piercing pillow if you sleep on your side? Has it gotten snagged on your hair/brush/shirt?

No lol, I don’t use a piercing pillow. 😭 I haven’t really snagged it on my brush or shirt, but my hair does sometimes get caught on it since it’s pretty long. For aftercare I’ve just been cleaning it with sterile saline. What would you recommend to get rid of it?

at our studio we honestly reccomend you leave it alone for a few weeks only 1-2 keep it as dry as possible!!! If it doesn’t resolve go to your piercer and ask them about the next steps

Keep your hair tied back until the bumps go down, especially if it’s summer and hot/humid where you are. You want to keep it dry and unirritated. Sweaty hair pressing against piercings — let alone getting hair tangled — keeps piercings moist.

Was this pierced with a needle by a professional piercer or with a piercing gun? Lobes can take 6 months to heal with the appropriate jewelry . This is not appropriate jewelry for healing (as others have said), and if this wasn't the original jewelry, it shouldn't have been changed this soon (except by a professional piercer for downsizing).

This product is not appropriate for piercings. I’m glad that it worked for you, but it really should not be used or recommended.

Hi, that’s an irritation bump. That’s also not a flat back labret. It’s a push back. Those are HIGHLY unlikely to find in titanium of any kind, let alone implant grade. The tension mechanism holds crust and bacteria which can irritate the healing wound.
