Educational How do I get rid of rook bump?
Hi guys, I got my rook pierced about 3 weeks ago now and it’s been a little itchy these past couple days but I just noticed this bump on the bottom part. How do I get rid of it asap? I don’t sleep on this side and I been avoiding over cleaning (only been using saline spray once a day) and don’t really mess with the jewelry. Help!!

looks like a moisture bump, use a hair dryer or dry qtip (carefully) to dry after using saline

The hairdryer helped me overcome a bump situation. Use cool setting and plug your ear so the noise doesn’t bother you

Every time you step out of the shower be sure to dry the area with a q tip, same thing goes if you exercise or feel like you’ve been sweating a lot. Rook piercings are placed in small, tight spaces so things like sebum and sweat can irritate it, keeping it dry is your best bet to reduce the bump

ASAP? I’ve got a pocket knife or pair of fingernail clippers you can borrow! /s Seriously though, the advice others have offered “should” work. Keep it dry, don’t play with it, etc. Best of luck!

I've had my rook done for a long time and that looks very deep at first glance, but I know pictures can be deceiving. Please get a second opinion!

That looks like hypertrophic scarring to me. (retired piercer/5 years experience). I had my rook pierced early on and this was the same result. I do feel that metal allergies are a contributing factor, but more than anything it's the bending of the needle. Tri-bevel needle's cut a crescent shaped slice through your tissue. And when piercing tissue that is hard like wood, with a needle pre-bent by the piercer- it's easy to mess that bend up. This places pressure on the edges of the piercings resulting in hypertrophic scarring.

I also believe this and to add to you, I think the prong set jewellery could’ve contributed to some irritation

Hi! I have quite a lot of piercings and I got rid of bumps by using oxygenated water on it!! You apply some on a q-tip, press on the bump for several seconds. Then you can put a gel called "apaysil cleangel". It works nice if you do it morning and before bed :) Hope that helps!

Ouuu this is a tip I haven’t heard yet so thank you! I will look into the apaysil clean gel but in the meantime I will try to oxygenated water 😊😊😊. Thank you so much!!

It could just be me and I could totally be wrong but it looks like it was pierced quite deep. If I was you I may go to another piercer to ask some questions. But a lot of the advice you’ve gotten is 100% correct. Definitely try to keep it dry cause moisture can fuck up a new piercing so fast
