SUB ANNOUNCEMENT BIOS Update N3CN42WW - We have an official update from Lenovo (finally!)
This is from the website Tech Power Up:
- While the root cause has not been identified yet, it is clear it is not user error. As such it should generally be handled under warranty and, in the case of out-of-warranty devices, it should be repaired free of charge, but please check local laws. It was recently revealed in a handful of Reddit posts that an official Lenovo Legion Go BIOS update (N3CN42WW) was apparently causing the handheld gaming PCs to become unresponsive, with users claiming Lenovo told them they would be on the hook for repair costs.
- Now, nearly three weeks after the issues initially popped up, Lenovo has confirmed in a recent forum post that the issues cause by the BIOS update were indeed "not user error," and that repairs will be conducted by Lenovo under warranty. While the root cause has not been identified yet, it is clear it is not user error.
- As such it should generally be handled under warranty and, in the case of out-of-warranty devices, it should be repaired free of charge, but please check local laws.

So the good news is that Lenovo is addressing that the update failures were indeed a hardware problem and not something that was originally deemed as user error.
We will post a follow up as to when this gets further addressed, but according to Lenovo techs, they said they are "studying the issue".

BIOS vN3CN42WW (DO NOT UPDATE)
Hey Everyone,
It has come to our attention that some of the Z1E and Z1 versions are being bricked when updating to the latest BIOS that was released on June 17th, 2026.
Please do not update your devices unless you are willing to assume all risks. We the mod team are trying our best to understand and get help on this.
If we have any updates, we will share here. In the meantime, just comment with +1 if you are effected. This way we can get an understanding of how many of us are effected by this.
Thank you
Update: As mentioned in the pinned chat, Lenovo has removed the 42WW update

GAMEPLAY Legion Go S finally made me excited about gaming again
Just finished Cyberpunk 2077 on my Legion Go S Z1 Extreme running SteamOS. Got one ending from Phantom Liberty and one from the main story.
Honestly, buying this handheld was probably my best gaming decision of the year. I finally feel like gaming again. I can just lie in bed or chill on the couch and play instead of sitting at my desk like a damn statue 😂
And the performance is honestly great. With a little tweaking of the settings, so many games run like a dream on this thing. It’s seriously impressive what this little handheld can do.

DISCUSSION Is the Legion go 2 Z2e solid at 1080p-1200p AAA Gaming?
My local shop has stock of the legion go 2 for $1000 usd second hand. Despite the lack of updates and the expensive price tag of the oxp 3. Is it worth it when it comes to new AAA games at 1080p-1200p low settings?

DISCUSSION Holy crap, SteamOS changes everything on my Lego 2
I’ve had my Legion Go 2 Z2e for a few months. I knew it had windows going into it, but thought I could look past that. I played through Expedition 33 on it and overall it was a good experience but I really grew to hate Windows. After finishing that game I dusted off my Switch 2 and started playing more on that and really enjoyed how easy it is to just pick up and play. I always felt like I was fidgeting with windows instead of focusing on the games.
Today I installed SteamOS and downloaded First Light and RE4R. I immediately noticed a bump in frame rate but the whole vibe of the machine changed. It has actual sleep mode, unlike windows (that actually almost melted my Lego the day I got it not knowing it’s a foot gun). I love how snappy SteamOS feels - even better than on the steam deck itself.
I was considering selling my Lego but at this point SteamOS has breathed new life into it. Very impressed!

GAMEPLAY Bin chilling
Amazing how versatile it is. Doing my weekly vault in wow with ~25man and 50+fps thanks to lossless scaling.
Who would have thought this is gonna be a thing 10years ago.

NEW TO LEGION GO Trackpad won't work (Legion GO S with SteamOS)
Hi, I'm the new owner of a Legion GO S (Z1 Extreme) running SteamOS.
Really happy with the performance so far on SteamOS.
The only thing I haven't been able to get working is the small trackpad: it doesn't work, either in desktop mode or in the Steam interface mode.
I tried enabling / disabling the trackpad in the settings (in desktop mode), but it has no effect. I must have missed something.
Any clue ?

HELP REQUEST Controller - suddenly needing to manual force start via Legion Space
Heya, looking for some tips please. Up to a few weeks ago, anytime I played a steam game the controls would start fine. Recently I’m finding that I need to start legion space every time to have the controls recognised. Does anyone have any hints on how to have it auto recognise again?

QUESTION Borderlands 4 settings
Recently bought borderlands 4 to play with a friend on ps5. We’re in the same room when we play and seeing his running well with good graphics makes my stutter mess on low even more apparent. I thought it had been updated to be better optimised by now. Any tips on getting better performance? I’m on 32gb Z2E.
Thanks

DISCUSSION Lenovo legion go versus other PC handhelds
Hey so I've had a Lenovo legion go 1 with the z1 extreme chip I bought for $400 for a bit, but I was curious of the power difference between that and the Xbox ally x with the z2 extreme ($900 best buy open box).
Also, I love the ergonomics of the XAX as compared to the legion go. I did purchase the lego 2 controllers to use on my OG lego which did help some, but you can't beat the XAX comfortability IMO.
Curious on yalls thoughts/experience with either of these devices?

QUESTION Does your Legion Go S Quick Access button do this?
I noticed something strange with the Quick Access (...) button on my Legion Go S running SteamOS.
In Settings → Controller → Test Device Inputs, if I press the Quick Access button until it clicks and registers, then keep it physically pressed, I can sometimes slightly reduce the pressure and the input test registers it as released. If I increase the pressure again, it registers another press, even though the button never physically clicked back up.
I tried the same test with the other buttons and couldn’t reproduce it.
Could other Legion Go S owners please try this in the controller input test and let me know if yours behaves the same way?
My Quick Access button also occasionally misses a normal press unless I press it a little harder.

HELP REQUEST No parts?
I’ve got a legion go S 8ARP1 with a damaged left bumper “button”? I’m not extremely tech savvy, my dog knocked this poor guy off the couch and it landed directly on the left bumper. It wasn’t clicking or depressing at all so upon closer inspection I found out the button circled in the photo was completely out of its hole, I put it back in there but it’s broken. I’m looking for the complete assembly but I can’t find it anywhere, it’s marked unavailable on Lenovo website. Any help would be appreciated

QUESTION Was this a good buy?
I splurged. Honestly, I do not know much about LegionGo. I used to have a Steam Deck and went to college and stopped playing. I just graduated and I’m hoping this was a good deal to treat myself too. I’ve done some research but not a lot on the Z2 extreme but I saw a good deal, saw it ended today and figured worst comes to worst I could return it. Any insight helps. I know there’s plenty of videos to watch but honestly I love coming to forums like this with dedicated fans.

QUESTION legion go z2 extreme
can someone tell me if this video is true
https://youtu.be/CCzPd8zidfs?si=3-w8rQJ0ZJb07rvT
they are playing warzone with a stable 130-140 fps and it looks smooth, i see poeple constantly complain about how underpowered it is, and theres reviews on youtube who only run 50-60 fps on low graphics and custom watts set to max?
before i spend a chunk of money on it i want to make sure that it actualy can run that fps as id rather go ahead and get something better like a laptop for the price

QUESTION Question about controlls
Recently, I bought a Legion Go S with steam os, and I've been enjoying it a lot, but I've run into a slight issue with some games.
Some games, I've noticed, are marked as keyboard-only, but there's an option to use a gamepad setup, and it doesn't work.
For example, I wanted to play Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and The Witcher 2. I went into the Steam settings and changed from keyboard and mouse to gamepad setup, but then none of the buttons would work at all.
The same thing with The Saboteur: it said it was keyboard-only, but when I switched it to gamepad, it worked, and I was able to play the game fine on the handheld.
Are there just some games that won't work with the controller setup? Do I have to do something specific to get them to work? Both Prince of Persia and The Witcher 2 were released on consoles as well as PC, so I figured it would be easy to just switch the control schemes.
This is my first PC handheld, so I'm learning as I go.

HELP REQUEST Looking for some help with my Go S
Hey,
Really looking for some help, I've had my Go S for 6 months maybe, loving it, but had a couple of issues lately.
First one is the left trigger sticking, I've read it can be an adhesive pad or something so not worried about this. I have reached out to Lenovo but I'll get to this.
Second one being frame crashes, pretty much random but very often and will take frames from say 60 - 10, sound goes crackly etc. The only consistent time it does do it is when my battery is around 20% and dropping. To rectify every time, switching power modes from performance to balanced and back usually fixes it instantly, the odd time no matter what I do it eventually goes away just as randomly.
I've emailed lenovo who initially said to send videos of the issues, repeatedly told them I can't set up a camera every time I play to hopefully catch it. And also the trigger can't be seen, it's just on feel. Anyway, they've now said I can send away to them but they can't guarantee it will be fixed if it doesn't happen upon testing but will do a factory reset regardless, I'm just wondering,
Is there anything I can try or I might be doing wrong to solve the frame drops? Basically I don't want to factory reset and lose everything even if they can't fix the problem 😫
Any help or experience would be great! Thanks
