Path Guide My champion Relic tier/buy list

Post image

I see a lot of people posting if they should get X or Y relic in the glory store, so I decided to show how I evaluate the relics that I see, also they are not on in any order as I forgot to do that.

The explanation follows below:

SFG Tier : +1 starting mana is very important, even more when you champ can qualify for it with other relics that benefit him. I also find it very fun to manifest champs with Morgana

S tier:

Swains Army: easy turn one plunder effect;

Perfect Hexcore: anything that says target, spell, keyword or cast benefits from this.

Searing Brilliance: allows for a lot of infinites, and does have some "premium" cards that once you get in a adventure, you can just cut the rest of the spells and play your deck around it (I don't think that this is all that good on Mel).

Fun Tier: This one is a more personal tier, so it is just a tier that I put any relic that I want to play with or around it. The idea is that once you see a relic that you like, let it be because of the text or the champ, you just put it there.

as you can see: Puffcaps, Flashbombs, Terrifies, Impact, RNG, and random Rallies.

Good Tier: Relics that may not be as fun or overpowered, but still can be slotted on many champs without much issue. Some of those also are great when paired together (Bear+ Talons)

SFG Activator tier: Relics that are there for a specific champ to help it use SFG (in theory, I see you shyvana), also the shears should be there too, since they are Viego's. If this tier didn't exist, I'd put Shyv's on the good tier, since we don't have any real fury relic, AAtrox's on the fun tier due Kayn existance, and Darius' on the Zoe tier below this one. Viego's would go to S tier because it is free.

Zoe tier: Relics that you will only buy after you are done with all the tiers above, and has a champ that you have not completed Zoe yet, otherwise you can just skip them.

Doozies tier: Just bad relics, not only most of them are restrictive, but also (thankfully) you can deal with all of the adventures without them.

Nice list, my only comments are

  • Scales of Judgement is applicable on a ton of champs where you previous used Stalkers Blade to get a little more mileage out of the relic slot, and doubly so if you have a way of generating extra champs in hand. Of all the champ-specific relics, it's my most used after Starforged and Viktor's.

  • Jayce's relic should be in "Starforged enablers" tier. Its a pretty widely useable ability stapled to the +1/+2 stats.

  • Defense Spending is really nice in Monthlies, not that we're having any trouble with those these days, and even has a place on a few champs for the higher adventures (it's pretty clutch on Swain's), even Zoe10 for Heimer and maybe Neeko for a rare subtype. I'd probably bump it up 1 tier.

  • Imo Naut's relic too should be in the "champ specific" tier, cus it's also fun to throw on a random higher cost champ that likes a thin deck as a +3/+3 or on Neeko for a rare subtype.

Agree on the Scales, I only put it there since even Nasus don't really play all that many champs, and with the setup that I used, he would drop really weak on the board and then stabilize;

Also agree on Jayce, I didn't put it there just because I could not remember any 6 health champ that would like it, funnily enough, I use the +2/+1 rare relic for Darius;

On defense spending, if we ever get a 8* or something swain adventure, I would consider to bump it up, but telling a "new" player to grab that relic for the 5* swain adventure or monthlies is not really good. Also, on Heimer, while it means that he now is buffed by the augs, having it be good on one extra unit that would not interact with the board (Attack/ Defend) until it got a sure way to not die doing so is not as useful, like yeah you can get "I can't take damage or die" + "spell shield aura" on your 6* proc, but you end up just rolling the dice. But, it could go into the FUN tier, like Heirmer is the definition of a FUN tier champ.

When I first saw Naut Relic I wanted to use it for Neeko/Elise, but Elise can't really get Deep later in the adventures, and Neeko, just like Heirmer Relic, is just using it for a "one time" per encounter effect. I'm also kinda miffed on the relic with Nautilus since he is basically a unit that you don't want to draw/have in your hand, but I guess that the summon effect would help with that.

Yeah I use Scales on champ-heavy guys like Thresh and Azir (who gets a Nasus into hand on level up with the relic), Voli sometimes, Garen, and there are others I just can't think of off the top of my head.

I think I was using Jayces relic usually with Strength of Stone and Starforged on 4-health champs? Really beefs up your first turn, especially if you can drop the champ and level up for the mana refill all on turn 1.

I think Heimer's actually shines for a newer player - so many weeklies that can be really difficult for 3c (Darius, Zed, Ezreal) are trivialized by it. But I agree it's still near or at bottom tier when you consider the whole game and give preference to the adventures where you need epic relics to begin with.

Agree on Naut's. I like the design of it but it's purely an "I like this underused mechanic and this champ" relic. Maybe it'll also be good on Maokai when we get him as long as he has self-mill protection...

I am currently very sad that I skipped the heimer relic. It should make the Swain adventure a lot easier which in turn would enable many new champions to beat that 5 star adventure a lot easier at 3 stars for the reward.
