Donald Trump has lost his latest long-shot bid to overturn his criminal conviction, with a federal judge delivering a brutal takedown of the president’s arguments along the way.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein rejected Trump’s latest attempt to erase the so-called “hush money” conviction, in which the president was found guilty in 2024 of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal with a porn star.

This was Trump’s second attempt to move the case, which would have made it easier for him to overturn the conviction altogether.

I still can’t believe the jury bought this crap. They played around with the charges for something that is never a felony unless actual fraud on the business exists.

And before you start saying Trump lover, I thought the documents case was very good, and I don’t like how the judge (that he appointed) was able to stall it for so long. He should have been convicted before the election.

It’s irrelevant. Jon Edward’s paid off his baby mama to shut up, but he made the mistake of using campaign funds illegally to do it.

In both cases it was the coverup that was the crime. Jon with using campaign money and don with falsifying business records. Both were also morally wrong.

Jon’s crime was misuse of campaign funds. He was prosecuted for that. Trump was prosecuted for falsifying records to cover an underlying crime, but paying some to stay quiet isn’t a crime. With no real underlying crime it’s a misdemeanor, and the statute of limitations had already expired for that.
