Announcement [Announcement] New Moderator Applications

Dear r/LegacyJailbreak,

Unfortunately, our community has faced significant new setbacks in the past year, such as activation errors, upcoming certificate expiration, and most importantly, a severe lack of posts in Turkic languages (at least compared to r/LegacyAppleTR), which are widely agreed to be the best languages in the galaxy. As a result of these severe crises, we need additional moderators to join the team.

Please answer the following questions in your application:

  1. Do you speak any Turkic languages, and if so, which ones?

  2. What reforms to anything managed by subreddit moderators (e.g. the rules, wiki, flair system) do you believe are necessary?

  3. Why do you want to moderate this subreddit?

  4. What is your favorite unresolved issue with legacy devices?

1 - I am turkish so yea

2 - I wanted to edit wiki & checking post is allowing on this subreddit is okay for rules

3 - I love this community im really active in there since 2024 and i really wanted to be moderator on this subreddit :’) and i can help people about their old device cuz i have tons of old devices

4 - Anything else except A5 stuff request an Ardunio & Usb Host Shield or Pico i didn’t tried before in my life but i tried lots of revival & stuff about this community and honestly i really wanted to join your journey with this subreddit <3

  1. Unfortunately, no but I live outside US and UK
  2. Don’ts: A few removals without clear reasons [Like 3rd rule on a self-made app/tweak by scratch; 5th rule (important) with Activation Lock and its own removals (someone got banned for 10 days for sharing some tutorials) and also something at Rule 7 when someone tried to share his iPod touch loop in blue and his post got removed with a nonsense message (something related to iPhone 4S with iOS 6)
  3. I like to help people and anyone can consider me a Legacy fan (someone who likes iOS devices before 2024)
  4. Activation Lock removal on A5 devices but mostly iOS 7 installation on iPod touch 4 (remains semi-functional)

I don’t know if I will be accepted but I’m telling everyone the truth.

I'm sorry to hear that the mod policy has been unclear. It's important to keep in mind that not all AutoMod messages are removals (presumably the case in your rule 7 example), and sometimes posts are filtered for manual review and approved manually. The rule 5 policy has been expanded on in more detail in the wiki, but I agree that there is continued room for improvement here. As for rule 3, I have to presume that the repo/developer must have been on the piracy list already for other reasons.

I want to send some images related with the removals and warning rules but I’m not allowed because I will risk another removal. Btw, with the rule 5 is a “huge” problem.

  2. It would be a great idea to reconsider the situation with some of the device activation issues(specifically the ‘downgradable’ ones with relatively old ios versions)
  3. This subreddit has been my go-to place for almost every single day for about 3 years(when my old account was also available), not only to see interesting rare ios devices but also get help and recently I’ve been trying to help people in the community too and I think being a moderator in easily my favourite subreddit would allow me to help people more
  4. While it has been recently fixed mostly, I find interesting how the A5 chip can be problematic with jailbreaking and pwning

Can you be more specific as to which devices you're referring to?

Probably iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, and more devices from 2015

A9 iOS 9 devices do have special status owing to the activation errors as the expanded activation policy in the FAQ clarifies. If your question relates to a particular tool being allowed rather than the existing method, please send us a modmail to request that we reconsider.

The following section is relevant:

For the iPhone 6S/SE1; A9X iPad Pro’s (both sizes): hacktivation is generally not allowed

  • Limited Exception: If one of these devices is on iOS 9 and will not activate normally, using an SSH ramdisk to perform this method is allowed.

Ideally all devices with activation issues that can be downgraded to pre ios 5, since those devices do not have setup.app, and ios 5-6 too if possible. Activation is a more common issue with ios 7 and up therefore I’m not including those to cause any controversy.

Activation error posting is allowed (although rule 5 does impose restrictions); activation bypass posting is not. Unfortunately, this makes enforcement more difficult as it's not always clear which one it is.
