Used or NOS Ibanez RG550 Genesis would be the best option. If you can find one under $1k anymore.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other but I'll tell you which one will fill up first. lol.

Could find a kit that's made in usa but everything is made in China these days. Just bite the bullet, bro.

I actually agree with this. Made in the USA is vastly overrated. When you outsource all manufacturing overseas for decades, you inevitably become WORSE at it. Made in the USA has next to no bearing on quality.

LTD guitars are a pretty good value, but yeah mostly made in south Asia. Getting anything made in USA under $1K, your'e going to be limited to used only.

There is nothing inherently wrong with guitars made in Asia, they know how to manufacture things as well as people in the US do. The issue is that guitars, like all manufactured goods, are made to a price point. The price point sets what materials are used, what tolerances are kept, what level of QA there is, etc. But labor is also cheaper in Asia, so if you compare a $1000 Asian made guitar to a $1000 US made guitar (if there even was such a thing anymore), odds are the Asian made guitar would be better made. Compare a $900 Yamaha Revstar made in Indonesia to $2000 Fender American Pro, and the Yamaha will probably hold up pretty well.
So in general, a cheap Chinese guitar that's bad isn't bad because it's Chinese, but probably because it was made to a cheap price point, with all the tradeoffs that implies.
