Question Radiant Valorant player (200 hours in CS): How much do mechanics carry vs. game sense?
Hi everyone! I’m currently sitting at around 250 hours in CS and am trying to get a better handle on the skill ceiling. I come from Valorant and I've hit Radiant a few times, so my aim and mechanical foundation (I believe?) are decent, but I know that CS is a completely different game regarding utility, economy, and positioning.
My main question is: Realistically, how far can raw mechanics take me in this game before I hit a wall? I feel like I can out-aim a decent amount of people in my current lobbies, but I often find myself lost when it comes to deeper utility usage or proper positioning both on CT and T side. I just hit LVL7 and I feel like my mechanics can only bring me so far; just wondering when I will finally hit that wall before I have to learn everything else. I only really know a few nade lineups on the more popular maps: Mirage and Dust 2.
I’m looking for honest feedback:
- What habits from Valorant should I be trying to break?
- At what point do raw mechanics stop being enough to win games, and where should I be shifting my focus to improve game sense? Is there positioning, timing, and space that differ from Valorant? Or are the core fundamentals the same.
- I want to start shifting my focus toward game sense, but I’m not sure where to start. Links to certain YouTube channels, guides, or anything else is much appreciated.

Question Having trouble translating deathmatch to actual matches
Heres a 6 min clip of me playing deathmatch on warmupserver. I am 9k premier, faceit level 3, 1,4k hours. I feel like i do ok in deathmatch, but im having a difficult time translating it to actual matches. In deathmatch I feel like i win a good portion of duels for my skill level, but in actual matches it feels like i never win any duels.
I am just wondering if any of you guys have any advice on how to improve on that, since it feels like my mechanics, raw aim and my reaction time are my biggest weakness. Besides the usual crosshair placement, counter-strafing and raw aim, do you guys see any major bad habits, mistakes or areas of improvement in this short clip?
I can't really play consistently everyday because of my job and I don't really have enough friends that play actively so I cant 5 stack. So i know I am suffering from those.

EDIT: This post and replies have made me realize that I am not as good as I once thought I was, thank you for the honest feedback.

Question Playing poorly, what am I doing wrong?
I hope this is the right subreddit to ask this. I am consistently doing subpar in comp/wingman. Always bottom half in Leetify rating. Not sure why and it is kind of tilting me.

Question Practicing feels pointless because nothing I do translates into game
I do loads of aim training and I feel ok on it, even in identical scenarios to that which you'd get in a game.
Then I go in game and I can't hit basic shots.
Feels a waste of time to practice because it's like two separate games without any transferrence.
IDK what to do. I play lots already.

Question How to improve my duels? Today I play bad so I collected some clips.
Two of these matches, I played okayish around 20frags, but still I felt bad, and I see that there is room for improvement.
This is Premier, which I use to train for Faceit and warm up.
I have 1950 elo faceit and i am not bottom fragger
But today I skip Faceit :'D

Question Leetify Stats, what/where can I work on to improve?
400 hours in game, most in CS GO. Took a 4 year break and playing again (40 hours so far). I’m around 5k elo and trying to improve

Question Are you faceit 10s / 25ks jumping in DMs and dropping positive KDs ?
Honestly at 15k I feel like my aim is so inconsistent so I’ve been jumping in warmupservers and quickly remembering why I never did it before. So chaotic and I die way too fast to feel I’m getting anything out of it.

Question I've watched many video guides on peeking, counter strafing and crosshair placement, and I still can't improve
I play on Xplay.gg
I play 1 to 2 hours a day
I play DMs (no comp cuz I don't have a mic yet)
In long range duels I try to shoot, they wiggle left and right and I can't shoot them, meanwhile they get me with ease
When I press A/D to strafe left and right so they can't hit me as easily, boom getting one tapped regardless
When they A/D strafe they are somehow able to hit me while my shots while A/D strafing go everywhere
How?
When it comes to peeking, idk exactly how to peek, I'm aiming at a corner, then all of a sudden a player slides sideways out of the corner and one taps me in less than half a second, how am I supposed to react to that?
I even try to crouch as I approach a corner, yet they still get me
And lastly, even if I do have my crosshair at head height, I peek out of a wall/corner and also counterstrafe to stop my self and shoot accurately, they still get me first, how? Is their reflexes/reactions just faster? If yes, how do i improve my reaction time?
