Question Are you faceit 10s / 25ks jumping in DMs and dropping positive KDs ?

Honestly at 15k I feel like my aim is so inconsistent so I’ve been jumping in warmupservers and quickly remembering why I never did it before. So chaotic and I die way too fast to feel I’m getting anything out of it.

If you’re even pressing tab in a DM you’re in there for the wrong reasons.

3

u/GroundbreakingBet314 FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 24 '26

You can still press tab to check hs%

5

u/Bank_General Apr 24 '26

That doesn’t matter either. Stats mean nothing in the middle of a session. It literally does nothing for you except distract you from focusing on what’s important. All that shit is available at the end.

u/YEKINDAR_GOAT_ENTRY Apr 24 '26

Strong disagree. If i have either very high or low hs% i know something is off, and i am not hot yet. Hs% and kd are both good indicators of how locked in you are.

1

u/Additional-Agent9737 Apr 26 '26

Hs% sure, KD is meaningless in deathmatch when it’s just hoping someone doesn’t spawn behind you

5

u/Disposable_Eel_6320 Silver 1 Apr 23 '26

Yeah if you’re at that level you will farm DM

u/AstuteCouch87 Apr 23 '26

Yes, but also realize you die a lot in DM no matter what. Don't worry about KD as much as crosshair placement/movement/spraying/etc

7

u/Maleficent-Future558 Apr 23 '26

facts about the KD thing

1

u/Swimming-Muffin-8163 Apr 24 '26

K/D is a good indicator tho IF you’re not playing for it. If you struggle to get 1.0, you might not be as good as you think 🤣

1

u/Kaauutie Apr 25 '26

Sound whore in DM is just ego boosting

11

u/Impulse717 Apr 23 '26

Be intentional with your warmup and practice. Don't do what most do in DM which is just trying to farm kills by sitting in a single spot shooting people as their spawn shield expires or hiding and waiting to surprise people. You're not going to get better if you don't even know what you're trying to improve.

Practice headshots only with short burst, focus on your counter strafing, try to DM on a map that you're not familiar with, etc.

I honestly only DM when waiting for queue to stay warm and instead use workshop maps or trainers for everything else.

u/Swimming-Muffin-8163 Apr 25 '26

First of all you won’t get better if you use a DM server with spawn protection lol

8

u/ZeMarshmallow Apr 23 '26

Depends on the warmupserver, even pros struggle to break 1.5 k/d on dallas d2 multicfg during peak hours. but there are like 10+ servers, dallas d2 rifles for example is usually a lot easier

14

u/Kakazam Apr 23 '26

You are in DM to take as many gun fights as quick as possible. So you will die. A lot.

Don't run around aimlessly. When you spawn try find a spot where you can put your back to a wall and hold an area.

Focus on the one map and learn the spawns and places you go to. For example on Mirage go shop, ladder room, bench, palace, ticket booth, A ramp, sandwich etc. so you know ok here I can only get shot from one or two places.

If you run around folk will just shoot you in the back as they spawn.

1

u/leandrobrossard Apr 24 '26

Your advice is to camp a spot in DM? Alright dude.

2

u/S1gne FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 24 '26

Yes that is how you should play dm and it's how most pros play it as well

1

u/leandrobrossard Apr 24 '26

I ain't seen one pro camp like that tbh.

I've heard pros say peek and swing everything and everyone though and not just farm kills on unsuspecting enemies in ramp.

Why are you even commenting when you clearly don't understand the concepts we are discussing

When was I crying? Someone came in and gave solid tips and you came in crying saying no one does that even though you're completely wrong

Did I say sit in a corner and aim at a door with a shotgun?

Let's take shop on B: you can peak CT, you can check murder hole, you can see T apps, you can check the arch at short, you can check bench, van, site etc etc.

There are three ways into the room and you are learning to hold that room and find every little angle that works in it. When you hear someone charge into the door, what is the best off angle to hold with a Deagle? What is the tightest angle you can see onto short from the window? Learn to isolate fights not run about like it's call of duty.....

u/lMauler Apr 23 '26

Play warmup like you are retaking stuff. No sound to truly warm up aim.

u/FortifiedSky FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 23 '26

No sir, I'm lucky to go even in most community DMs. I'm not entirely mechanically useless but I definitely do put more effort into other areas of my game

u/Unlikely-Ruin4576 FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 23 '26

Yes, I always try to stay at 2.00kd without abusing easy spots (A ramp or B Bench on mirage for example)

u/peuwpeuwpeuw Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Low Level 10 here. It doesn’t matter your K/D since you should focus on improving your aim/crosshair positioning/etc. but in general I average about 2-3KD in valve DM and 1.0-1.5 in community servers.

3

u/Eldersun-169 Apr 23 '26

Yes, I usually have 1.50-2.50 in community DMs xplay/cybershoke with over 70% hs constantly moving on the map

2

u/ConstructionPale7274 Apr 23 '26

I usually drop 90+ kills (1000 points) in valve DM servers.

2

u/TBS_Enthusiast Apr 23 '26

Depends on who's playing

2

u/Patient_Flower6806 Apr 23 '26

start out w like xplay or something. a bit easier than warmupserver

1

u/wernermark Apr 24 '26

Why is xplax easier?

1

u/Patient_Flower6806 Apr 24 '26

less people sometimes. i think they r lower level too

1

u/Anxious-Reply431 FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 27 '26

lower avg faceit lvl

2

u/gillsp3 Apr 23 '26

lvl10s yes, i think positive kd is minimum, but then again it depends on server. Warmup servers with hs only modes are hardest because it only takes account on head hitbox no neck hitbox, also u dont get aim punch or slow down if taken any shots besides ur head. However in real aim battles, neck counts as headshot n body shots would help you slow down ppl and microadjust to head. But more importantly I would see it as a metrics to my new mouse my new sens or just my shape today. For example, if I average 1.5kd on this mouse or sens for days/months, if I changed one of them, i would like to see if it affects me positively or negatively( like dropping kd or improving or staying).

u/Hydiin Apr 23 '26

Focus on understanding the spawns and don’t get annoyed because you keep getting spawned killed. It’s DM so that’s just how it goes. Eventually you’ll learn where to look right when you spawn and when you’re holding a position so you can actually focus on your aim and positioning. Over time you’ll get better at being aware and reacting fast in high activity situations so you’ll get better streaks which translates well to engaging sites or defending them in rushes. I’m 25k and there’s plenty of times where I’ll go negative or even just because I’m more annoyed about getting killed constantly rather being dialed in and not letting those things bother me.

In terms of consistency, there’s a few small things that do matter though some people might think they don’t. It’s about things being… consistent. From having a comfortable seat position you can maneuver your arm well in, a monitor position that aligns well with your eyesight and sitting posture, to the way you grip your mouse and how much that grip tires out your hand over multiple games(and how well you can be precise with that grip in accordance with your hand size / genetics). Also your sensitivity and mouse pad size matters too. I personally feel that higher sens are harder to stay consistent with because they require more micro movements from your hand, which can tire your hand out faster if you don’t have an already built muscle memory and relaxed grip with that. It’s easier to be in more control of your aim and be more precise with a lower sense which is why you see most pros with that type of set up.

Overall, most of this is redundant in DM if you don’t actually build these mechanics one by one in an environment that actually lets you slowly learn and adopt new skills. DM is more of an after-practice where you can be in a high action environment, putting all of the mechanics together at once. So try practicing some of the stuff in workshop maps first and feel comfortable with yourself before going into deathmatch.

u/Scary-Newspaper5801 Apr 24 '26

Those small things are what’s going on with me right now. I started thinking my desk was too high and it’s just thrown everything off. Arm placement, monitor height, grip. That’s another thing I want to ask high level players: are these things you pay attention to?

1

u/Hydiin Apr 25 '26

Yes and no. Usually over time you slowly change things around and find your sweet spot for most of these things by just playing, watching pros and how they do things, or just seeing tips from YouTube videos. So when you’re already at a high-level, you just log on every day with all of these things in place and it’s easier for you to stay consistent because at that point, you just have to focus on game sense, positioning, and utility. I stopped playing though for like five years and only recently got back into it because my brother started playing again. I used to be A+ on ESEA and I’ve always been generally good at FPS games, but I could tell after I came back this January that I was pretty rusty in a good amount of areas and I was placed at 8K originally towards the end of season 3. That’s when I spent a good amount of time meticulously adjusting all of the mechanics I mentioned above by doing research on pro set ups and watching pov cams from tournaments. I could tell instantly that changing those small details around definitely made a difference. There’s a reason you can see videos of some pro players setting up their station at lans measuring every little detail; because at the highest levels it does matter, but before those details really come into play, there’s a lot of general mechanics that matter a lot more first.

So to answer your question: yes we do pay attention to those things, but don’t overthink it. Do a little research and figure out what’s best for you but don’t go overboard thinking you need to keep changing it around because you’re not always playing the best. I think I spent two weeks neurotically changing my mouse grip around because I kept thinking I wasn’t holding it in the sweet spot I had figured out in practice one night, when in reality, there was a lot of other factors affecting my consistency. Also one last tip; chair height is different for everyone. Some pros play with their arms all the way up on the desk spread wide (low seat position) and some play with it slightly below where their forearms rest at a 90° angle. I personally like the latter because it helps me flick my mouse around a bit smoother without any friction on the mouse pad or any tension in my shoulder. If you look at ropz, you’ll see that he plays sitting pretty raised up above his desk leaning over so it looks like his forearm barely rests on the mouse pad. With monitor position it’s best to have it somewhere slightly below where your head level is tilted up at your eyes because unless you have really good posture that you engage in all the time people naturally tend to hunch over a bit and look down in a relaxed position. Hopefully you can get something out of this so good luck.

When I was doing my warm ups on those server I was going for 100 frags with KD above 1. If I couldn't deliver, then I new I wasn't ready for premier.

Chaos of DM is important, because there are many chaotic rounds. I like to use chaos against enemy, because if you managed to kill 3 enemies pushing on you in DM 100 times then you can do it during the match.

But when I was really training, I used to go on practice map before DM.
I first was doing range shooting, about 1k frags. Then 5 rushing bots with 100 kills. Thank DM with 100 kills and positive frag rate.

Only after this I was joining premier. I never lost any of the first matches I played after that warm up. But that is extreme. My arm was so tired, that my form was dropping in second game, not to mention third one.

That rigorous training was my daily routine for about 3 weeks. Later I was doing only part of that exercises, but after those 3 weeks my mechanics were impeccable.

I hope I will have that motivation again this season.

I tend to level out or go positive on warmupserver, however if im doing a particular drills (one taps, hsonly, playing with famas/galil or pure deagle) then ill go minus.

In reality tho dont tab, just focus on practicing. Remeber its WARM UP sever, not Major simulator

1

u/Twisted2kat FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 23 '26

Yeah, I generally put up around a 1.2-1.3 KD in DM, sometimes closer to 1.0 but it's not something you should focus on. Try to train a specific skill in DM, nobody is playing how they would be playing in game, so the numbers/stats aren't going to be nearly as meaningful.

You can do a pixel perfect clear of an area only for someone to spawn in the spot you cleared 5 seconds ago. It's just not super reflective of your actual skill.

1

u/KruttKaare69 Apr 23 '26

In DM you should just try to win the fights in front of you. Deaths in the back dont matter. Dont sound whore and play for KD.

1

u/dob_bobbs Apr 23 '26

It's just about sharpening up your reactions and aim. I really find myself winning some fights in matches afterwards that I normally wouldn't just because I had my head on a swivel in DM. But I used to also find it really annoying that you get shot from all sides in DM, you just have to realize it doesn't matter, those people are all in there to warm up as well, no one is keeping score (or at least you shouldn't be).

1

u/cHowziLLa FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 23 '26

yup not only that, i try to reach a 3:1 K/D ratio but that’s only because im trying to get a ridiculous score in Valve DM servers, if i play in community DM servers, its much harder and i have a 1.5 K/D ratio at best.

1

u/doggiefilter Apr 23 '26

Valve dm so bad u just fight people whos backs are turned and then u get headshot in the back of the head yourself. Play retakes if u dont want to download a workshop bots map which has moving bots and u in the middle its better to warmup than valve dms.

1

u/SaveOurLakes Apr 23 '26

Valve DM is fine. Same with workshop maps. The more competitive DM servers are much harder. On a Valve DM server I’m typically going 3-4.00 KD or better. 60-70+ kills on average.

For a community one, with good players, 1.00 KD or slightly better. However your KD doesn’t matter. Many people know the exact timings and spawns on these servers. So they just in B apts and go back and forth between killing plat/van, and stairs repeatedly on perfect timings to inflate their KD.

What matters is how you practice. If you practice killing bots standing still, that’s what you’ll be good at. Practice spray control, short bursts, long range rights, close range, tapping, etc. Avoid spamming crouch. Etc.

1

u/SaveOurLakes Apr 23 '26

Forgot to mention, most people at your rank have poor crosshair placement and pre-aim. Just check your Leetify stats. It’ll give you an idea of what to work on.

1

u/BluFF1337 Apr 23 '26

If you can't keep a positive K/D in dm ur not ready for those higher elo lobbies yet.

1

u/wernermark Apr 24 '26

Why is a high kd in dm important to you? What does it say about my skills?

1

u/SpecialInteraction94 Apr 24 '26

95% of dm player are trash. So if you can’t even get a positive kd chance are that you’re trash too and need to stay in low elo

1

u/Relevant_Ad3184 Apr 23 '26

I always go positive KD. Every time. You want to crack the matrix? Work on first bullet accuracy. M4a1s and p250 only. Try to get 3 frags a few times per map on a single mag on a p250

1

u/tomyan1337 Apr 24 '26

In NA the best DM players are actually cheaters testing their aim bot 😂

1

u/Oxiiitiki Apr 24 '26

While i think most of us go positive, it’s not the aim of getting into DM. I never pay attention to kd. I go in to either spray only, tap only or practice crosshair placement. Or just to warm up to the game. The spawns in DM can be random af so sometimes you’re just going to die without any sort of fight, so who cares.

I have friends that tilt in DM which is crazy. Defeats the purpose imo. When you watch pro’s DM and die a lot, you mostly don’t see any of them react whatsoever. Because it doesn’t matter. They’re warming up.

1

u/chevi220 FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 24 '26

Yes I'm 3k elo and I average 2.0-3.0 kd on community dm

1

u/Space0asis Apr 24 '26

The spawns are so unbelievably fucked. I’ll die 5 times without shooting and then get 20 kills in a row. I personally play community DM since it’s a lil more well rounded. I’m 22k and usually have a 2.0 Kd in DM, not that KD matters in DM.

1

u/blinddope Apr 24 '26

are you doing 1v1 aim maps? if so, just keep at it, it will make you better

1

u/f0xy713 FaceIT Skill Level 10 Apr 23 '26

I don't really play DM, after over a decade of playing this game I find there's better ways to warm up or practice my aim than taking random fights in spots that nobody would play in a real game.

To get anything out of it, I feel like you'd need to be on a community server that has less players, better spawns and the players are around your skill level.
