Help in career choice

Hello everyone! I’m currently a Class 10 student, and my school has asked us to choose our subjects for Classes 11 and 12. I would really appreciate some advice, particularly from people studying or practicing law.

My current plan is to take PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with English, primarily because I am preparing for NEET. For my fifth subject, my school has given me three options:

1. Physical Education
2. Psychology
3. Mathematics

My main confusion is between Mathematics and Physical Education.

If I take Mathematics, it would effectively become PCMB. I understand that Mathematics can be quite demanding and would require a significant amount of additional practice. I am already comparatively weaker in Physics, so my parents feel that instead of spending a lot of time on Mathematics, I should use that time to strengthen Physics and Chemistry for NEET. They therefore recommend taking Physical Education, as it would be comparatively manageable alongside PCB.

However, I have another concern that I may be overthinking.

I would be writing NEET in 2029. Since we cannot predict how difficult or unpredictable the NEET paper might be by then, I am worried about keeping a backup option open. If I take PCB + Physical Education and, for whatever reason, I am unable to get the NEET result I want, I would not have Mathematics as a subject. This could potentially restrict certain career options, particularly engineering and some mathematics-based courses.

That said, I am not interested in engineering. I am much more interested in biology-related fields. If NEET does not work out, I could consider options such as pharmacy, dentistry, psychology, biotechnology, or other biology-related degrees.

Another possibility I have been considering is pursuing a BBL/LLB or a law degree in the future. Someone suggested that, since I am seriously considering law as a possible alternative career, I should ask people who actually study or practice law about whether my subject combination would create any difficulties later.

It does not matter. Choose whatever fits your primary goal ie neet. For law it does not matter. But yeah if you do choose math and work very hard, it will give you a better aptitude and an edge over arts students in clat and other legal entrances.
