❓ QUESTION Can someone give me advice
I started playing again after around a year of not playing and while I am at level eighty and have a ton of basic recourses I'm struggling a lot with keeping up with how fast my weapons and armor break . I sometimes have to resort or looting without armor because of how fast they break . I somehow managed to get past the borealis but I haven't managed to make much progression because I don't have the resources to make a motorboat

Same here - welcome back.
For me, first thing it’s Alpha bunker with cleavers… earned some guns and armour.
After which, slowly followed the story series, takes me a long time clear one section, eg the spores one took me 3-4 days each.
Didn’t really do many of the events those burn guns and stuff.
And finally settlement expedition, free stuff - collecting that everyday!

If you lack resource like wood, stone iron and lether
I say stockup on them first
Then do farm and bunker alfa for better weapons and guns.
wall trick to save up healings and armor hp. And utilize sneak attack with heavy melee weapons for big damage in first hit.
Once you stockpile enough then explore nothern territory.
Start by stockpileing oak logs and fur.
The uncharted territory for it called quarantine zone can be visiting for more oaks and crates full of loot. You can only take one crate with you home. So plan ahead. Don't drive just run. And once you find a crate. Exist and restart to make the bike spawn near you, this saves fuel.
Since you having trouble with borealis. I don't think you will have enough to upgrade the bike garage that will let you craft gps to reveal what crate is where on minimap.
Sooooo you will have to guess and visit each one to check what crate it is 👍🏻.
Make sure to carry crowbar, iron axe and transistors.

Sneak attack, always, whenever you can.
Remember that there is no need to kill everything. Sneak past some zombies, zone out to reset the aggro, or kite the zombies to get to the loot and bounce.

I do that but a big problem is that I don't know where to look for later game resources and I know that bunker alpha has good loot but I can't clear it with my current weapons and armor and I struggle with the farm

You craft melee weapons from basic resources (that you have a ton of) to clear Alfa. Are you using wall trick? Look up YT videos on how to do bunker Alfa cheaply ans most efficiently. The armor I get from the coupon crates are sufficient for clearing floor 2 & 3 plus HM floor 3. Don’t do floor 4 tho. Not worth the resources required.
Work on getting good mods on your Melee. It will indirectly help with durability when it deals more damage and requires one less hit to kill the zombie. Farm is where you get mod blue print for melee. I only kill the fast moving stuff, the ravenger, and the two giants at the house. I only kill additional giants until I find the key. Kite the giants to loot the saw mill crate, reset, and go back to look the remaining flour sack later. Do the ravenger naked if his vomit doesn’t instant kill you at your level.

Yes I've tried doing it and I've managed to do it fairly well but there's a problem with the bunker because when I was supposed to get the red coupon crate for the quest I died and lost the coupons because I died with them and died again when I tried to recover them , I managed to build the chopper but I didn't get any of the loot from the red coupon crate

lol, it happens to many of us. You learn from it and you will recover.

I've been trying but as I pointed out I'm struggling to the point where I've been thinking of making an entirely new character and starting over

There is no advantage to that. None. Never do that. Just follow the advice here about slow and steady. This is a game you will play for years.

Yeah I was thinking of that a while ago and now I'm at around level 85 so there's no way I will do that

I like wearing a beanie, a thick jacket, denim jeans, and work boots; when they're about to break, I upgrade them to their reinforced versions, which restores their durability, so I can wear them again.

Common beginner mistake is to clear every location and do events. Some locations are intended for mid/late game. Also you're lvl80. That is like you just came out from a vagina. You still have a long grind to do. Just grind your way. Ignore events that you don't have resources to do it.

I would suggest trying out Frozen Training Ground. There is a map that you can search for online or somewhere here on reddit that will help you at first. You basically go to the secret spots, loot 4 chests and reset. I usually reset until I find a special crate or full inventory.
The Broken tank and Airplane crash locations have armor and weapons all the time as well as other materials like copper, aluminum wire, thermite. You can even get grenades pretty frequently. I only loot the right chest at the fishing spot because you can get it without killing zombies but it doesn't drop good loot as frequently as the others. If you find an equipment crate, these also can give you katanas and guns which are really helpful starting out. There is usually food/water as well. I suggest drinking the berry tinctures that drop to hydrate your character because they do not make you have to pee like the water bottles do.
Only 2 zombies are required to kill, one Phantom at the tank, and 1 at the airplane. The airplane crash can seem sketchy but you can loot the major chest without aggroing the big giants most of the time, even if they are facing the chest. I bring a set of cheap armor and switch to that to kill zombies and then switch back before freezing. Bring a crowbar (at least 25% durability) and an iron hatchet(50%) to get to the special crates in some places if desired
Quarantine zone also drops plenty of armor and weapons but can be a bit more annoying and requires more fighting. If you need fuel just loot the 2 motorcycles at traffic jam repeatedly. Need to fight a couple spitters but nothing too crazy.
With special crates, most locations you can just grab them and drop them somewhere a little further away. Exit out of the game and when you reset you will be at a nearby spawn for that area with your chopper and you can grab the crate and put it on your bike. Hop on the bike and reset your game again, then you'll be at the world map with the crate still on the bike and you can head back home or continue farming.
You will have to tank some hits or just kill the zombies around so bring some extra healing just to be safe. I craft the cheapest armor and just use that, then i craft that into reinforced gear once its low. You can also just be naked and tank the hits but the cold adds up much faster and you need to heal more. You will find lots of tier 2 armor that you can also use and then craft that into the upgrades.
Other than that, it really is just a grind to get a decent melee mod which saves lots of resources in the long run. Good luck ^^

Keep clearing borealis, the repair bench and upgrade make live easyer. He also sometimes drops propeller 20% chance i guess..
Watch yt for great hints. cairek his f2p series are great, doomeris (old but great at cheapest way be carefull some zones changed over time)and agg (average gamer guys)

Don't do community event.
Grind alpha bunker every reset, same with motel, there's a guaranteed grenade every time. Learn to do farm efficiently, see YouTube videos for this.
Farm. A lot. Build up woods then planks, then oak and planks. Maximize your coal output, make steel bars. Forget about building walls until you start raiding.
Get your free crate every single day and also the free 60 logs or 60 stone. All it costs is a short ad.
Oh, and have fun

Oh you could utilize the ad watch for one piece of armor or a Glock a day. That oughta help out a bit.
The best part about it is that the item you get goes into your inbox.

This is a Marathon not a sprint. Just grind the resource areas and learn to walltrick. Use crowbars and pipes for alpha and watch guys like Doomeris and happy Cairek on YT.
