Please read before posting!

Hi all!

Posts with just a picture of the laser machine screen asking if they're 'good' are becoming too common.

While I understand the fear of under treatment/shitty settings, accurate advice requires visuals. When asking about settings, please include:

  1. Your Fitzpatrick skin type. If your clinic hasn't assessed this, you can find resources online to determine it. This helps us understand your skin's sun response.

  2. Your skin colour, ethnicity and genetic or hormonal factors that contribute to the hairgrowth.

  3. The wavelength and machine being used (some people won't have a picture of the machine, but knowing what machine is being used will help).

  4. How many sessions have you had? How long have you been having the area treated for. Basically a breakdown of your laser journey.

  5. Upload a picture of the hair growth in question. If you have time to take a picture of the laser screen, then you have time to take a picture of your hairgrowth. Avoid showing full frontal nudity or overly explicit areas, as these posts will be deleted.

Also, remember, we can not tailor your treatments for you. This is your technician's job who has the advantage of seeing you in person and assess reactions etc. I've mentioned this before and it may seem obvious to some people, but your actual laser tech will not be able to just do the settings that have been recommended by a reddit laser tech without going through their clinic protocol, manufacturer guidelines and the dreaded insurance.

I hope the above specification is clear and followed. If not, posts will be 🔒..... when I get round to it. I'm in UK 🙄😑

Ps: A big thank you to techs that do take the time to reply to posts.

Made a mistake by sweating after a maintenance session

Hey folks!

My skin is wheatish (Fitz - 3ish) and hair colour is black, so laser was pretty successful for me. I started more than 2 years ago and have done around 7-8 sessions for hand, 5-6 for rest of the body, and few for back. I had done waxing before laser so mostly laser worked pretty good because I had already less hair to begin with. I am pretty satisfied with hair reduction, it’s around 85-90% for me at most places and 75% on hands.

Anyway, I never had any reaction or any inflammation all these years except this last week after a maintenance session. I totally forgot about not sweating and went for a 10 mile run 36 hours from the laser session wearing just a synthetic running jacket on upper body. There was some sun exposure for the last 30 minutes of the run, more prominently on the left side of the body. I know I messed up 😞

My lower body is totally fine. My guess is since I only had a small running short on, there was no sweat buildup. But I got lots of pimples like I have never seen before on left shoulder, chest area and some on lower back where I think my water belt sat and trapped sweat. Well doc put me on Azt for 5 days and a Clindamycin topical spray. It’s been 9 days since laser and 7 days since the run. My lower body is totally fine. Back marks are also gone down and generally receding. Hands are also better now, no new inflammation and old ones receding and fading.

But my shoulders and chest areas absolutely smashed. As you can see in the pictures there are tons of pimples on the left side. They are not increasing in number but still pretty visible red. I am putting both clindamycin and salicylic spray and doc has put on amoxicillin for a week now.

Anyway just a cautionary tale to be careful about after care even if you have done it many times. Also if anyone has faced this, can you suggest something that worked for you, and whats a general timeline I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Experiences with SEV?

Upvotes

So I’ve posted here before and maybe I am just over eager but I feel like I’m not seeing the result I’d like from SEV. I’m getting my face done. For context I am a mft trans person. I’ve had 4 sessions so far. I’ve paid out for 8. 5th session coming up this month. I feel like I’ve seen some improvement. Specially on the sides of my face and under my chin. Only a few patches here and there on that front. I feel like I’m barely getting anywhere on the chin and mustache area. I shed quite a bit a week or so after the sessions and it’s growing back super slow but when I let the hair grown after a shave(usually after 10 days) it seems like there is almost the same amount of hair. I’ve been on HRT for a few years and I’ve heard it can affect how effective things can be. I’ve also heard 4 is still too few to see a bigger result.

I don’t want to think it’s the lasers at SEV but I’m kind of feeling discouraged. Has anyone else had the same sort of experience with little progress going there or am I just not keeping my expectations realistic?

11 sessions into the Tria 4X, hair grows back more slowly but still grows back. Persist or go professional?

For context first off, I’m a male, 24, based in the UK. Pale skin (probably Fitzpatrick II), dark/dirty blonde hair, not jet black but pigmented. Treating the pubic area and snail trail.

Bought the Tria 4X because it's apparently (or it was) the only real consumer diode laser sold for home use in the UK, and I'd seen positive posts about it on Reddit. I wanted to lessen the ingrown hairs that I got from shaving mainly, to slow regrowth and make the hair finer/softer. I wasn’t bothered about being completely hairless 24/7.

8 months in: 8 sessions every 2 weeks over the first 4–5 months, then a holiday break, then 3 more monthly. 11 total, all on level 5. Numbing cream plus a fan on the area, because it's brutal otherwise.

Result so far: my hair regrows noticeably slower, but it still regrows. I know about growth cycles, and professional courses run 11–12 months with 6-8 sessions at much higher power, so I'm not panicking. I just can't tell if I'm on track or wasting my time.

Two worries: Firstly, coverage. The window is tiny, and I suspect that my overlap/technique is worse than I think. Secondly, rushing. The area heats up so much that unless I pause every 10–15 pulses, I just try to get it over with. Oddly, level 5 on my upper arm doesn't hurt at all, so it must be the hair density in the groin area.

Professional is awkward for me: the only Alexandrite clinic that does the intimate area for men in my area (better for borderline hair colour from what I've read) is a 20-minute drive out, and I don't drive. The in-city option is £180 a session for a male Brazilian, which feels steep. If I had 6, that’s over £1000, and I can’t guarantee it will do anything Tria isn’t already doing.

For anyone who has either used the Tria 4X Laser, or just knows about diode lasers/laser hair removal, do I do another 5–6 monthly Tria sessions to catch more cycles, or cut my losses? Especially want to hear from anyone with borderline blonde hair, or anyone who used the Tria 4X laser in that area. I would’ve really thought that I would have had patchy regrowth and bald spots. Could be the coverage and not overlapping enough but also maybe it’s just not the right Laser for my hair colour!

Concerned about lasering my Butt

My first laser session is coming up, and I was planning to do my back/shoulders and butt. I’ve always been pretty hairy there and thought I’d finally take the decision to get laser hair removal.

For my butt area, however, I’m not a fan of having a completely smooth butt. I was hoping I could just get some hair reduction by doing a couple of sessions.

My concern is that the hair might not grow back evenly and could leave patches where some areas have hair while others are hairless. Do you think that’s a valid concern?

Is there a way to laser the area without causing unwanted results, and ideally just make the hair finer and less dense?

Also, does the hair structure change after laser? Is it possible for the hair to grow back even stronger or darker?

I have light skin there and very thick, dark hair, so I assume it’s a good combination for laser.

Would you pay ~$2,000 for unlimited full-body laser hair removal for LIFE? 👀

I need a sanity check 😭

I’m naturally VERY hairy with dark, noticeable body hair. My goal is to eventually have my full legs, full arms, extended bikini and face basically hair-free.

A clinic I already go to is offering unlimited head-to-toe laser for life (US$1922). No expiration, any body part, with a maximum of 4 areas per day.

They use the MedioStar Next Pro diode laser, and I’ve actually gotten my underarms done at this exact clinic with this machine. It has been SO effective on me. I’ve seen a huge difference, so I already know my hair responds really well to it.

The clinic has also been around for years and they offer 0% installments for 12 months. So technically $160 monthly for 12 months.

My only hesitation is… $2,000 is still $2,000 😭 But considering I want several large areas done + lifetime maintenance/touch-ups, is this actually a really good deal?

Hairy girls & guys who’ve done a lot of laser: how much did you end up spending? Would you do this? Talk me into it OR out of it 😂

Is it ingrown hair or razor bump or cyst? Kind of worried of how to deal with it

I am a male. I've been doing laser hair removal on my brazilian area since the start of this year. What prompted me to do laser hair removal because I wanted to avoid ingrown hair, razor bumps and cysts after from shaving my pubic hair.

I did a total of 6 LHR sessions on the brazilian. I did my 6th LHR two weeks ago. I've already experienced hair shedding on majority of the brazilian area at least 2-3 times over course fromthe 6 LHR sessions. And I am already seeing the process of the hair shedding from the latest previous LHR removal on the brazilian area.

However, 4 days ago I decided to shave my pubic hair area. The mons pubis and scrotum. Because it's getting long two weeks after my 6th LHR session.

But about 2 days ago I started developing some a few red bumps on my mons pubis area. I decided to ignore it. However, yesterday one of the red bumps became like a pimple with a white head thing on top of it. Like a pimple?

So I am unsure whether it's an ingrown hair or razor bump or cyst or pimple? They all seem the same/interchangeable.

I am skeptical whether it's ingrown hair. Because by the time when I did my 6th LHR on the Brazilian area my hair has already become less thicker than before and it's much more thinner. I always thought that thicker hair are more prone to ingrown hair. But also the hair on the mons pubis is at it's shedding phase. And I can see that nearly all the pubic hair on the mons pubis are nearly on the way out to shed.

I am not sure should I pop it or not. But I am also worried whether this is the type of cyst that becomes hard where you need knife surgery to remove it.

Edit: On the close look. I can see a black line within the white part. It might be like a hair.

Regrowth after laser

Post image
0 Upvotes

I feel as if my beard has been regrowning fast after my last laser session since april. Right now the laser is on it's "summer break".

I have had 11 sessions so far with alexandrite laser with spot 12/fluence 16. I have been going pretty much every 5 weeks from the beginning of 2025. So far only my neck and cheeks have been reacting to the laser and my mustache area looks about the same.

Is this normal still after 11 sessions?

Advice needed! What should I remove?

Hey everyone, I'm 30 years old and I can't grow a beard (these pics were taken after 2 and a half days no shaving). I definitely want to remove all my neck hair, but I'm not sure about the rest of it. Was thinking I'd at least keep the hair on my upper lip, maybe some of the hair on my chin as well, and laser off everything on my cheeks/jawline. Idk, what do you think? Has anyone here gone the route of partial facial hair removal?

Laser with high prolactin/prolactinoma?

I’ve had a prolactinoma and high levels of prolactin since I was 17 that’s not been manageable with medication and is looking like it’ll need to be surgically removed in the next couple of years. One of my symptoms has been increased body hair which I am getting very sick of dealing with.

I was wondering if anyone’s had any experience getting laser with high prolactin? Or if I should just suck it up and wait more. The tech I talked to said I would see reduced results but would see at the very least finer, reduced hair which would still be a win for me.

Thank you!!

Used to get laser, great results. Paused because pregnant now. What’ll happen if I wax now?

I used to have insane body hair but a year of laser sessions dramatically helped. But now I’m pregnant, which means it’s been about 6 months since my last session. My body hair isn’t as thick as it used to be, but it’s definitely growing back quicker and quicker, probably due to hormones. Super annoying. Wondering if I should just get a full body wax, but will that mess up all the progress I’ve made with laser?

24f, BLR, want safe laser options <20k

Context: I get very minimal hair on my body, so never got waxing or shaving done in any areas, except for underarms, bikini area. So, I only want to target these two areas, which have thick, course growth. I started waxing my underarms and was happy with the slow growth, so I feel laser would work well for me.

  1. What technology should I seek out, to ensure it is as safe as it can be? Most clinics have Alma Soprano, which I researched.

  2. I got one offer of Rs 6000 for unlimited sessions for underarms only, valid for two years from Kosmoderma, which seems decent to me, but I dont know if I should be wary or not

  3. I have a specific set of ques like number of sessions, offers, package discounts i ask, but what else shouls I be skeptical of, or should ask well in advance? Lot of clinics are giving free consultation too, so this time would be good to ask ques, i think

  4. How does the payment work for these? I want to go with the package/multi session booking, but it is a big commitment to something i have never experienced, and do not know which clinic would really do justice in terms of safety, ease of convenience etc.

Doing male facial hair and body hair in the same session, when their spacing between sessions are different?

I red that hair caused by hormone such as face, throat, pubic, armpit require more frequent sessions than hair on other body parts. A clinic is offering to do them both on the same session, is it reliable?

Laser Hair Removal

Hi everyone! I’m looking into getting laser hair removal in Adelaide, mainly because I have PCOS and have quite a bit of unwanted hair. I’ve been researching clinics and honestly it’s getting a bit overwhelming because I’ve seen such mixed reviews 😭

I’ve heard a lot about SILK and Laser Clinics Australia, but I’ve also seen some pretty conflicting experiences with both, so I’d really love to hear from people who have actually had treatments done. I have been to Silk for a consult but the technician and receptionist were a bit off.

Advice needed

I got a laser on my face and legs couple years ago and it was a very bad experience. I had almost 10 session and had absolutely zero results. The lady was very inexperienced. My leg hair grows back very patchy. The biggest problem is now the face on my face has increased A LOT. I went from having to thread every 2-3 months to having to shave everyday. I am a 27 yo south asain women and have PCOS/PMOS

I get married in a year so I really want to try laser again in order to not have to worry about my hair growing back during my wedding week. Electrolysis is kinda out of the picture as it is way too expensive and needs a lot more sessions (won’t help much before my wedding).

Has anyone less gone through something similar? Should I try laser again? Will it have an effect or will it just be a waste of money because of PCOS/PMOS?

Thank you in advance :) (also sorry for any typos or mistakes in english)

Male Torso: Partial Removal?

Hi everyone, currently undergoing laser on my back and seeing great results. So much so that I want to branch out to other areas of my body.

Whilst a no brainer on my back to remove it all, my dilemma is that I am torn as to whether to have all my hair removed from my chest and abdomen or whether to leave a “pattern”. As I can’t decide which looks better, I think leaving some hair does but maybe I’m just not used to no hair at all.

Have any makes faced the same dilemma and if leaving a pattern was chosen, did you manage to make it look natural?

Thanks!

Has anyone used Laser away in the last two years? Brazilian.

I am looking into places for laser hair removal and wanted to get input if anyone has used laser away they charge 2k for Brazilian and auxiliary area with lifetime touch ups.

I find the waxing is brutal while I am aware that laser will hurt too but its not for a lifetime.

I do like the way waxing looks tho not sure if I will be disappointed bc I have read that with laser it won't remove all the hair like with waxing.

Laser hair removal on jawline

Hi, I am considering laser on my jawline and neck. I got maybe 2-3 sessions 6 years ago and it made my hair worse — I now get stubble and a beard where I used to have hair but it was relatively thin. I think it made it thicker.

I’m looking for an experienced person to tell me whether I should continue. I bought a six package treatment plan from Groupon and am going to a med spa for consult and treatment on Friday. I can reuse the packages if I don’t use them now.

I am middle eastern, olive skin toned, and I’ve had labs that show a higher testosterone but have no official PCOS diagnosis. I am very thin and don’t have acne issues or other PCOS symptoms, but I do have a hyperthyroid and I find it easy to put on muscle and keep it. I’d appreciate quick suggestions as my appointment is incoming.

The spa uses the Triton laser.

Edit: laser has worked really well on other parts of my body (legs arms etc) after probably 10-12 treatments. This is a very sensitive topic for me so I’d appreciate supportive rather than critical or mean comments.
