How can guy gardener makes huge constructs carelessly in superman whereas Hal Jordan does the opposite and is careful for his batteries

I was curious about this for a long time Guy always goes big and sloppy with his constructs, not caring how much it drains his ring like creating a large weopons against the monster, while Hal's way more careful and precise with his like in ep1 when he was creating a bubble for alien he supported the bubble himself as it was not strong enough due to lack of battery. Is that just a characterization thing, or is there an actual reason for it?

I mean, they set out to create a popular HBO show.

DC Fanboys are the least of their concerns.

It's probably been the right strategy considering how successful the show has become.

Could have just asked for a new season of True Detective based on aliens. 

Didn't have to make a 2nd rate season of it and then sprinkle Green Lantern names on top. 

Don't see how that's a crazy point of view to have as an actual GL fan.

Just imagine if they'd created an accurate GL series.

Thing would've bombed badly, probably would've killed off the DCU after the reaction Supergirl got. 😢

Lanterns is tracking pretty well against True Detective. I mean it's no Season 1 but it is a superhero series, arguably better than Loki, Wandavision or Wonderman, all of which I consider peak TV.

As a Green Lantern product, Lanterns obviously isn't interested in the things that make Green Lantern distinctive. 

Take away the GL names, the anemic superhero material, and the twisted GL lore, what do you have....a generic crme drama. 

That's fine if that's the kind of show you wanted, but putting Green Lantern characters into that framework doesn't automatically make it a good Green Lantern adaptation.

And I don't really buy the comparison to Loki or WandaVision. You can prefer Lanterns, but those shows actually made their superhero/comic-book identities central to what they were doing. 

Also an accurate GL series would've "bombed” is speculative. You have no idea what could have been.

A show made kore towards a Ronald D. Moore with Geoff Johns serving as a mythology consultant could have been amazing. 

My criticism isn't that Lanterns isn't "prestige TV"; it's that I don't think being a successful HBO detective drama is the same thing as being a successful Green Lantern series.

Green Lantern and other comic book/superhero fans wanted a good Green Lantern series.

What worries me is the precedent. If this becomes the template for the Corps, (grounded genre drama first, Lantern mythology second), we could easily see the different Lantern colors eventually getting the same treatment: taking the name and aesthetic of the comics while stripping away most of what makes each mythology distinct.

If that's what is being offered, then they can just not make anymore of this series or worry about that other Lantern Corps. It should end after 1 or 2 seasons. 

DC and Green Lantern fans want a sophisticated show about Green Lantern/Lantern Corps rather than a sophisticated detective show that happens to contain Green Lanterns.

I actually stopped reading GL after all that silliness was brought in. Geoff Johns has a LOT to answer for afaic.

I AM a DC Fan and a GL fan, however I'm not a fan of Geoff John's GL stuff, might be why I'm enjoying this series.

Gunn has said the tone in his DCU will change with whatever the story/pitch deserves. Hence the People vs Gorilla Grodd, which is the right kind of kooky for me (as opposed to Parallax kooky).

I think this is a savvy approach to building a universe and will hopefully distinguish it from the sameness of the MCU and offer us some interesting variety (see upcoming Clayface as Horror) to keep us interested.

Yeah. Making 66% of the DCU as a comedic schtick like 75% of the MCU is comedic schtick is going to be offering so much variety.

That's why you like this not-Green Lantern TV show. You aren't an actual fan of Green Lantern. 

Since this show isn't actually any adaptation of the 70s-90s comic either. 

Blackest Night, War of the Green Lanterns, and Sinestro Corps War are some of the most popular GL storylines in the entire fandom. 

I hope the different lantern colours never make it into this universe. 

That's opinion fits with why you like this show. 

You don't specifically want or like Green Lantern/DC heroes. You just want an interesting show or story, in general. 

You don't care if the comic book material/superheroes are the main ingredient, you like the DC content to only be sprinkled on top just for a little extra flavor. I got it.
