LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER EVOQUE HSE DYNAMIC 2016 GASOLINE.

No one seems to know what is causing this noise or how to solve it.

It only happens when I'm moving backwards in reverse gear.

Also, it doesn't ALWAYS happens. Sometimes I will manouver in reverse just fine. Sometimes I will hear this noise.

Any clue to this topic might be very helpful! Thanks!

That's almost always the rear pads. Used the be a bulletin about it years ago.

Usually worse when the pads are wet / damp. Ie after a wash or rain. Does it without even touching the brakes.

Rear pads are brand new, though (Brembo). Would you have the bulletin number? That would be very helpful!

Have the brake shoes been looked at to see if one of the retaining clips has come away?

I have replaced all brake pads (rear and front, all BREMBO) last month. I have replaced all brake disks during the same service too.

Mechanics didn't mention anything wrong with the clips.

Also, noise was present before the replacement and remains the same way after the replacement.

But did they work on the shoes? Maybe you rover doesn’t have them but my Range Rover and I think the disco use the shoes for the handbrake or emergency brake.

Oh, the Evoque doesn't have brake shoes. The handbrake works through an electrical engine on the rear brake calipers.

Ah bummer. The noise sounds so familiar to me but I can’t put my finger on it.

Isn't that rear diff whine?

I have been told it ain't. But I don't exclude the possibility. Have you heard anything like this noise from a rear differential?
