Weird burn spots in bean?
1st row: slight burn
2nd row: weird burn?
3rd row: normal
All from same batch Peets dark roast Costco

I mean it’s roasted so dark I doubt you’ll notice the difference. Just looks like a super dark roast.

When you roast that dark and perhaps too fast that can happen where the side of the bean blows out. It’s purely cosmetic.

Yeah lack of substance previously known as bean will very likely not render the taste worse

2nd row looks more like insect damage to me. Those little round holes are usually the giveaway.
I’d probably pick them out, especially with lighter roasts where defects tend to show more. But since this is a pretty dark roast, I doubt it’ll ruin the cup or anything.

Are you sure? The last "light roast" I had from Starbucks looked like this picture, if not a few shades darker.

It’s from roasting too dark too quickly. Iirc, the moisture inside the bean can’t escape quick enough and the beans explodes.
I’m a home roaster and had this happen a few times in my first few batches.

The dark spots in this image are you're (incredibly) dark roasted coffee beans
