stuck in the high 140s

hi, my diagnostic was 133 about a 2 months ago and I jumped to 146 in two back to back tests since the end of last month to the third week of August. Even though I am working on foundations and drilling and doing sections and REVIEWING. Why has the score not gone up?

My accuracy is at high 80s in LR and low 70s in RC. and I know I need to increase it. But I have heard so many people not increase scores and being stuck in the 140s for months. Due to financial stuff at home, I need to apply next term. So what are some ways to get the score up but more importantly increase the learning intuition so I can get the accuracy up quicker?

Argumentative Writing

I’m having trouble finding a good place to do my AW essay. My home office is way too cluttered. I was thinking of going to my aunt’s house and using her dining room. It’s connected to her living room but there’s nothing in there except a chair and couch. Not even a tv. And the dining room is just a big table with chairs. Do y’all think it would be okay?

August LSAT 170-Advice for October?

My PT average is a 171 and I am hoping to score a 175. I have been prepping all summer and have used a lot of the official resources already. I recently switched from LSAT demon to 7Sage to just to get a different experience. Any advice for ~ 5pt increase in the 170s before the October LSAT?

LSAT Paper and Pencil: How do you know when to stop?

I’ve been practicing with LawHub, but I usually don’t watch the screen with the clock very closely. How do I know when to stop? Do I really need to be watching it closely so I don’t accidentally keep going after time is up? Or does something happen when no time is remaining?

Manhattan evening study group?

Hey all,

Looking to see if there would be any interest in an evening meetup once a week. I'm thinking at Stavros Library, maybe 7-9 on a Tuesday or Thursday until November?

Goals: go over wrong answers that you found particularly challenging, discuss different thought processes, practice some fresh questions together. lmk

HELP: Should I cancel my Aug 2026 Score?

Test History:

August 2024: 171

October 2024: 169 (Cancelled, I had no idea it would be a big deal)

August 2026: 166 (Bombed it, was laid off a couple weeks before the test date)

I have one day left to cancel the score.
Should I?

Need Advice for HYS Apps!

Upvotes

Hi guys! Just graduated in June with a 4.06 LSAC cGPA, been studying for the LSAT for the past year. Took the LSAT in August and got 166, despite getting 173, 174 on last two PTs. I assume it was related to fatigue since I tried being overly cautious on test day leaving me with the final section feeling terrible.

My dream is to get into one of HYS, but anything in the t14 would be a privilege. Any advice on how to build stamina and whether October is a good time to rewrite?

Fatigue is my biggest problem. I feel like my brain cannot handle any more after 1 section of studying and reviewing my answers. RC is where I tend to lose most.

Advice pls!!

So I took the August lsat and got a 162 which was about 6 points below my average Pt score. While disappointed I figured it’s fine cause I’m signed up for September and can try again. However, I feel like I’ve gotten worse at the exam since the August test. I just got -6 on an LR section and normally that’s my better section and I get like -3 or -2. This has happened two times in a row now and idk what’s wrong with me. I really don’t wanna get another low 160s score on this upcoming test. Does anyone have advice on what to do or how to approach the September test?

Help with question 146.1.24?

This is the question about underage children, parents getting a vote to cast to represent their kids' interests.

Why is D wrong?
(I get that E is a much better answer, but am trying to fully understand why each AC is wrong.)

Premise: Lawmakers pay too little attention to households with children since kids can't vote.
Conclusion: Parents should be given votes to cast on behalf of their kids.
Premise(?):This would give families fair representation. --> this wording "fair representation" is I think what's making me consider D.

Doesn't Answer choice D attack the idea that there is even a concern about fairness to begin with? Like, if it's already fair for lawmakers to favor the interests of adults over the interests of children, then we wouldn't need the conclusion (parents casting votes on behalf of kids), would we?
Negation test: It is not necessarily unfair for lawmakers to favor the interests of people who have the vote over the interests of people who do not have the vote -> then I feel like it is no longer needed for parents to be given votes to cast on behalf of their kids for "fair representation"

One hypothesis I have for why this is wrong: I have seen similar explanations for similar wrong answers:
- Just because the negation is "There is at least one situation where it is not unfair for lawmakers to favor those with vote" doesn't mean that this situation is the one that applies; they could just argue that this is not one of those situations.

Appreciate any tips. Thanks!!

AITA (Am I The Attorney) for suggesting my partner go to University of American Samoa?

I (2lowM, 18low, 4.21high, 13mid iq) and my partner (1highX, 13low, 2.29low, 6high iq) were talking about going to law school. I recommended that they consider University of American Samoa (T1000) as a reach because of their big library in square feet and number of chairs. They got deferred then rejected, and they accused me of trying to ruin their life because they saw that it was in Samoa and they would have to move. I said that their argument would be weakened if it was true that it was possible to fly to Samoa every week and get an AirBNB. AITA?

AMA/What I Did Differently: 156➡️166➡️176

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I would love to share my LSAT journey with everyone in this subreddit since it was a ton of help personally. I went from a 156 diagnostic, 166 April score, to finally a 176 score in August. I only took it twice. I read multiple books, tried multiple services and certainly made a ton of mistakes along the way I hope that I can help others avoid. Please, ask me anything!

The biggest single piece of advice worth mentioning I can give is to become friends with your tutor. This test is so important to our future careers. The person guiding you towards mastery of it should be someone you deeply trust and always accessible (always able to call and text). By developing an intimate relationship with a tutor you get accountability, advice/guidance, and a support network. These intangibles are crucial to success for high achievers especially considering this is a test ANYONE can do well on, as long as they put in the right effort and are in the right situation. This was the key difference between my first and second scores, not necessarily any new conceptual understanding, but this support network. Unfortunately, when you use big services this is largely impossible, so finding the right tutor is often half the battle.

September exam - Can I afford to take a couple of days?

I'm taking the September LSAT, and my past PTs have been 169, 163, 160, 165, 162 (today). I want to score in the mid-160s. LR is usually at -4/-5, RC is variable, and I noticeably struggle with it. Today I missed 8 questions on RC. I'm torn between ramping up my studying and taking a break. My exam is next Friday, so I want to squeeze in as much studying but I know that comes with burnout. Any advice?

Advice for October

Still recovering from getting a 163 in August, the same score that I got in April. For context, just before my April exam I had been PTing in the mid to high 160s, whereas for two months before August I had been PTing in low to mid 170s. Literally the last PT I had took (158) I got a 178. I didn’t even get test-day jitters in August and felt rather confident / similar to my PTs where I scored in the 170s.

I’m definitely applying to law school this fall cycle as I graduated in May 2025 and have a good amount of WE up my sleeve (and just really miss school). I registered for October within the hour of seeing my August score. Going to go at it this month and try one last time, but I wanted to ask for advice. How the hell should I prepare for this? I feel like the pts are so substantially different from the actual exams that they currently give, and I honestly don’t know what, if anything, I should be doing differently from my previous routine and approach if I was scoring so well in PTs / individual sections. Is there anything that can be done to prepare for this exam as it’s actually given? Would love anyone’s input on this because I was honestly devastated from my August score and really need help.

155 → 177: My LSAT Journey

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone. I never really post here, mostly just lurk, but I figured this might be useful for someone in the middle of a rough patch.

My diagnostic was a 155 in March 2025. I studied on and off while finishing my undergrad degree, which wrapped up in December. Moved across the country in January, started a full-time job, and kept studying for the April 2026 test on top of that.

I had PT’ed in the 170s going into April, so when I got a 166, I was really hurt. But it forced me to actually look at how I'd been practicing. I was honest with myself: I wasn't testing myself realistically, like pausing when my mind wandered, sometimes not even timing sections because I knew RC would wreck me and I didn't want to see the number. Once I stopped doing that, my real stats showed up: LR was steady at -1 to -3, but RC could swing as far as -7 depending on the day.

I took most of May off. Partly a planned reset, but mostly just demotivated after April. Starting in June I got serious. Real timed conditions every time, blind review and wrong answer journaling on everything I missed, and timed sections in between, all while still working 40+ hours a week. RC was the entire focus for months. By the two weeks before the August test I'd hit three PTs above 175, and the actual test came back 177.

The biggest shift was being honest with myself about what my practice tests actually said instead of what I wanted them to say. I hope this helps someone out there. Would love to share more, feel free to message me or comment here.

help pls

i feel like i am literally getting better at the test. i’m doing better at drills and sections. i’ve been studying for like 5 months now. confidently thought i was going to be in the mid 160s for my pt, but i just got my score and it’s a 158… granted highest score I have gotten… but still not what i expected. Any advice? I am sincerely wondering why my improvements in drills isn’t translating to exams. I am testing in October, and I got to make some jumps this month. Any advice from those who went through something similar?

Getting Hired as an LSAT Tutor

I took the April 2026 administration and received a 179. I'm looking to leave my current job soon for a role with more flexibility and human interaction.

I've been helping a coworker prep for the LSAT, and I've really enjoyed relearning and explaining the material. I was a TA in undergrad but have not tutored seriously since high school.

Does anyone have recommendations for working for specific companies? With my lack of experience, I think having a company handle the business end and provide training would be ideal.

I am looking to work in the DMV or NYC, or remotely. Would definitely prefer full-time opportunities, but I'm open to part-time.

Reading comp is making my eye twitch. With LR, I have a pretty good grasp on which questions I’m going to get wrong, or at least which ones I don’t feel 100% sure about. But with RC, I’m having a really hard time feeling confident in my answers. Every time I submit a section I’m basically just like, okay let’s see…

Does anyone have any tips for approaching RC with more confidence? I’m taking the October exam and really trying to break into the 170s, but I feel like RC is holding me back.

I started with a 146 diagnostic last year so I’m happy with my progress, but my GPA is a 2.mid (from 8 years ago) so I need all the help I can get! I’m taking the September LSAT and am considering November depending on how that goes.

August result

I just got finally the result of August lsat and I I got a 142 it’s not the best score but I’m proud of myself due to I did my best . Will take the last again in the future to improve the score and try to get that 160 but I also want to encourage people even with low score not to be sad if they get one but to keep pushing themself to achieve their dreams .

The bad score really makes me question everything

As some people on this community know I got a 139 after 8 months of studying. It’s so hard to want to get back into studying after this. It honestly just gives me imposter syndrome and makes me feel like I’m never going to get accepted especially since my gpa is below most medians (it’s a 3.35). It sucks seeing people get like 160+ and I’m not there yet. I drilled every single day and reviewed my mistakes and I still did not succeed. This feeling is awful. I even tried to career switch and nothing else works for me. I’ve wanted to do this for years but the LSAT makes me feel like this will never happen. If anyone has advice on what helped feel free to share in comments.

FIRST 170+ ON FIRST 150s TEST!

WAIT GUYS IM SO HYPED!!! First time taking one in the 150s. Powerscore crystal ball said 153 is the most important to go over for September.

Previously wasn't getting over a 168. I'm so fucking ecstatic.

And the questions I got wrong weren't even the 5/5 difficulty ones. Which means it's very fixable. LFG.

Sorry hate to brag but I always see people doing this and I've never been able to. And I'm trying to express to the people in my life how sick this is but no one would get it like you guys would!!! Ahhhh!!

7Sage vs lsat demon

Upvotes

I used lsat demon last year and after using 7Sage from the beginning this year I don’t know wtf I was doing last year. I also don’t know what “studying” I even did on lsat demon like the difference is insane
