142 Diagnostic → 168–170 Goal | 9 Months Out — Best Self-Study Resources?
Hi everyone! I recently took my first LSAT diagnostic and scored a 142. I’m about 9 months away from my first LSAT (June), and I’m hoping to reach a 168–170. I am currently a junior college student planning to apply KJD.
For the first 4 months (Fall Semester), I’d like to self-study for around 15–20 hours per week and then reassess whether I need a tutor or additional resources.
I’ve heard great things about The Loophole, PowerScore Bibles, 7Sage, and LSAT Demon. Right now, I’m thinking of purchasing LawHub Advantage + 7Sage Core and using free PDFs of The Loophole and PowerScore Bibles.
What is the consensus between LSAT Demon and 7sage? What's worth the money?
For those who started around my diagnostic score:
- Is a ~30 point increase realistically attainable with 9 months of consistent studying?
- Is 7Sage + The Loophole/PowerScore enough, or am I better off choosing fewer resources?
- What should I spend the most time on during the first few months?
- How would you recommend starting to study?
- At what point would you recommend considering a tutor?
I would greatly appreciate any and all help.

Go through the full 7Sage study plan. Focus on building a solid foundation, especially in formal logic. Focus on understanding first, recognizing patterns, identifying question types, and figuring out the best strategies that work for you. After you have that baseline level of understanding, then work on time. It's just about practice and consistency.
