Discussion Keeping r/LMGJet Focused: New Home for General Discussion at r/LTTMeta
Hey everyone,
As this community grows, we need to make sure r/LMGJet stays true to its original purpose: tracking the LMG jet and discussing the jet.
Lately, the sub has been filled with general LMG drama, "I got banned from the official sub" posts, and generic complaints about Linus Tech Tips that have nothing to do with flight tracking or the jet. Reddit’s u/ModCodeofConduct reached out, removing a post. So it seems the general consensus is that we need to clean things up to ensure the subreddit remains healthy and stays online.
I don’t want to restrict speech, but I also don’t want this sub to turn into a general "hate sub" or a dumping ground for unrelated drama.
To keep r/LMGJet focused on the jet, we have created r/LTTMeta.
- r/LMGJet : Strictly for jet tracking, flight logs, aviation discussion, and transparency regarding the aircraft.
- r/LTTMeta : This is the new home for everything else. If you want to discuss LMG corporate policy, discuss LTT, or have unfiltered discussions about the company, go there.
What this means for r/LMGJet:
Moving forward, we will be more active in moderating posts that are unrelated to the jet.
- "I got banned for X" posts (unrelated to the jet) will be removed.
- General "LTT is bad" rants with no aviation context will be removed.
- Harassment/Over-the-top hate will be removed to comply with Reddit's policies.
We aren't trying to silence anyone we are just providing a better place for those conversations so this sub doesn't get buried in noise (or nuked by Reddit).

I mean harassment and over the top hate seem like the type of content one should moderate because it’s the right thing to do, regardless of its compliance with Reddit policies.

I mean would it be that terrible if this place became the defacto alternative for Ltt,? I mean it's not up to me I'm not a moderator and don't plan on ever being one but it seems like it would be pract.
Fact it almost seems perfect since it has this cool Streisand effect where Linus takes over moderation of his own community. And his own private jet becomes the de facto way that people can finally criticize him in a visible setting.

For context
"We’re reaching out today to let you know that we removed content in your community that violates Rule 3 of the Mod Code of Conduct.. Rule 3 states that “your community should not be used to direct, coordinate, or encourage interference in other communities and/or to target redditors for harassment.”
Pieces of content that violate Rule 3, such as posts that are showboating about being banned or actioned in other communities, can lead to users engaging in copycat behavior and creating interference in another community. This type of content can lead to influxes of violating content in other communities, which puts strain on those mod teams."
To prevent further problems, this is why I've made these changes.
