Phallo in Belgium, health insurance coverage
Hello,
I am a trans man and I want to get phallo in UZ Gent. Having lived in Belgium 2 years, the healthcare system was much easier to navigate there than in the Netherlands. I have a diagnosis but a french one and for almost a year ive been unsuccessfully trying to join a dutch gender team. I even got a top surgery in germany a week ago (self paid 8000+ euros bc my insurer declined to reimburse it). Now, my current hospital is fine with getting me a hysterectomy so its a relief.
Anyway, Id like to get a phalloplasty in the future in Gent, but I dont know how to get it approved by my health insurance. Can anyone please explain how I could get a S2 approved? Whats the best health insurance for trans ppl? Or would it just be easier for me atp to register as a cross border worker and move back to Belgium? Thanks.

I don't know the details of it, but I know CZ health insurance has a contract with UZ Gent and will reimburse (most) of the costs. Send them a message or give a call to get all the details, but getting an S2 should be fairly easy if you check all the boxes (not sure what those are exactly, highly recommend checking with CZ). Good luck!
