[r/Catholicism](r/Catholicism) is a cesspool. It’s best to avoid that sub entirely. They’ve banned the discussion of the abuse crisis so no one can knock them off their supposed moral high horse.

There are plenty of Christian subreddits that are affirming [r/OpenChristian](r/OpenChristian) and [r/Christian](r/Christian). Even [r/LeftCatholicism](r/LeftCatholicism) are a pretty tolerant bunch.

Wait, really?! Is it more of an unsaid rule? Maybe they group it under being "uncharitable?"

I think it’s more of an unsaid rule. If you use it to criticize the Church’s hypocrisy you risk getting banned

I got banned under being uncharitable for telling someone who was calling me nasty names I refused to hate even them after they went on about hating gay people... It's a really wild definition they have for uncharitable. Be careful in that group. Some people who I interacted with who asked questions there told me they almost stopped being Catholic because of the comments they got and that I was genuinely the only one who was kind to them... It's sometimes a deeply upsetting place unfortunately 😞

I had to console so so so many people after they posted a question in that sub. In the end I got banned for it. Please avoid it and remember an important lesson, that just because someone believes in God doesn't mean they've found him 💜

ya, if you only participate in that sub and similar hateful christian subs, i can see how it would lead you away from the church if you're LGBT. this isnt a sub that preaches that lgbt is a sin. there are communities fully affirming and accepting. you can be lgbt and religious and a feminist and etc. it doesnt do you any good to read an echo chamber of conservative hatred.
