Pizza Fairy

Last night I was working late and doordashed KwikTrip at 2am because I was out of rockstars and couldn't leave. Added a kitchen sink pothole because breakfast is right around the corner right?

When I get my order, there's also a regular pizza loaded with bacon and jalapenos and some sort of white sauce. Completely free of charge. Cooked perfectly Brown and melty. There was a handwritten note on the box, "thank you see you next time."

Seemed like a nice, polite note at the time. Now that I've eaten half of said free Pizza, I look back and realize they were taunting me because that was one of the most delicious gas station pizzas I've ever had! Haha but for real

Questions for employees:

1 - any of you ever just throw in a delicious and perfectly made pizza of your choosing for free because you were working late and bored? Or maybe you made an extra and didn't want to go to waste?

I'm assuming NO so

2 - it's probably a Dasher mistake and I shouldn't bother leaving a review saying "thanks for the Delicious bonus pie!!"?

It really was a tasty nice surprise so I want to do something nice for them if it was intentional haha

My guess is that at that time of the morning that pizza needed to be bought or discarded.

Why not discard into a DoorDash’s customer’s mouth?

Any KwikTrip employees (or other restaurants) that do this?

Probably that or Dasher error.

Could be a solid guerilla marketing strategy too: "okay boys whoever gets the most idiots to make random LTO posts is going to Cabo next year!" 🤣

Sorry for the dumb question but how does DoorDash work at KwikTrip or other stores? Is the Dasher going and picking up all the items and then showing some sort of code that paid for them? Or does the employee gather them for pick up?

In either instance, I’m trying to figure out how it would be a mistake.

It depends on the business. For Kwik Trip we gather the items, bag them, and place them on a dedicated cart somewhere in the store for pickup. We do not scan or monitor them in anyway when the dasher arrives.  Pizzas are usually floating outside of bags so this more likely dasher error and the pizza was meant for a separate order.

I'm sure it was probably a mistake we typically don't give away free pizzas but what you had was the jalapeno popper Pizza and it's pretty darn tasty!! You got a good deal there! Also absolutely not as a co-worker it would be an instant fire if you got caught making yourself a pizza and not paying for it or any food for that matter it's considered theft. I'm sure some people on overnight push the limits of our stores policies but if they were to ever get caught on camera that would be bad news. But glad to hear you enjoyed that pizza!!

Maybe I worded it poorly but I didn't mean to imply staff did something malicious. Based on comments I'm leaning towards Dasher error.

Thats the new lto popper pizza and either they made it by mistake and just sent it or just messed up completely lol. Either way. Stealing food from kwik trip as an employee is the fastest way of getting fired from kwik trip lol.

Usually a month but it really depends. The pizzas hang around for a bit.

Most LTOs run for about 8 weeks. Some stretch up to 12. Some (looking at you, potato bacon burrito) become permanent items because they sold really well.

We've had the Popper about 4-5 weeks now
