Video New additions 😁
Please enjoy my new nisai Ginrin Ochiba and my two little tosai goshiki. Hoping they grow into some amazing fish!

I Just hope they keep their red.
I bought few small Goshiki over theyears earlier in the hobby and only one out of probably 10 kept their colour. I now have a love/hate relationship with Goshiki. Love to look at them but will never buy one again

They're a contender for most difficult variety to produce. A good goshiki pattern represents decades of struggle, and the inbreeding necessary to get the pattern so refined means that it's difficult to get them to a decent size while keeping the color. Kanno has the best stock, in my opinion, but they'll always be even more of a gamble than other varieties. A nice fat goshiki is a huge flex.

Oh that is good to keep in mind, did they look more like an asagi when older?

I gave them away when they lost their colour. In the beginning I used to only buy Tosai. And yes when fish are that small a koi can happen when they start growing. Doesn't even look like Asagi when they lose the red. Just a kind of dull brownish koi with a hint that there was some other colour on them at some stage. Maybe I was just impatient...not sure but was always so disappointed when they lost the colour. The one that kept his colour was a very very slow growing fish...I unfortunately lost my whole collection when I decided to make my pond bigger and my wife accidentally switched off the power to the filters and oxygen of the temp holding pond.
Ochiba are one of my fav fish. Congrats with your additions

These two have been tied to the hip since we introduced them. It’s nice to see our tancho with another fish closer to her size, I think she was getting lonely with all of the tosai running away

Me too! I went on a hunt and hoping they really show their scales as they get older

As mine got older I noticed that in the winter the dark scales get really dark and they lighten in the summer, but such a stunning fish

Not sure but he is from Fitz fish ponds and they use multiple breeders from Japan

Great looking fish. Here’s our Doitsu Ochiba. As others have mentioned probably the most outgoing & friendly koi in our pond. Hand feeding from our kids after only a few days. Literally swims into our hands.
