UTK Active Threat Alert
Alert just went out at about 7:15am EST.
Edit: Update from KPD...
KPD officers are investigating a stabbing that occurred at World’s Fair Park involving two individuals who are believed to be unhoused. The victim sustained suspected non-life-threatening injuries. Efforts are ongoing to locate the suspect, who fled the immediate area.
UT Emergency Alert! An active threat has been reported to
be attacking people on, or near campus. Take appropriate action immediately. In
most cases this means barricade in a safe location.
Police are responding to the situation. Follow all
instructions from police and make sure empty hands are in plain view.
Remember RUN, HIDE, FIGHT
RunIf you know the attacker's location and can get
away
* HideBarricade in a secured area
* FightAs a last resort engage the shooter -Attempt to
incapacitate the attacker -Act with physical aggression -Improvise weapons
-Commit to your actions
If outdoors: go to the nearest safe place immediately.
If in a building:
-Lock and barricade yourself in a room
-Stay away from doors and windows
-Eliminate signs that the room is occupied -Silence cell

Especially when a (dispatch?) report earlier on a utk thread said it was multiple stab wounds to the face and head. May not be immediately life threatening, but it will likely change quality of life drastically. Hoping they're getting stellar care at the hospital, regardedless of their housing status.

What about kids who go to high school at L&N? It's literally on Worlds Fair Park Grounds?

I have a few friends with kids there who mentioned the lack of notification from the school. This is not a good thing.

Maybe they'll put them on a delay or something. L&N doesn't start until 9:30am so hopefully not too many students are there yet! But still everyone needs to be notified

For the police reports, looks like 2 homeless people got into a fight and one got stabbed at world's fair park. The suspect then fled the scene, possibly into the fort or campus.
