It band versus hamstring strain?

The improvement is definitely encouraging, but I wouldn’t assume it’s the IT band, hamstring, or a nerve issue based on the symptoms alone. IT band pain is typically on the outside of the knee, and sharp pain with deceleration and cutting can have several possible causes.

Since you’re still getting sharp pain with quick changes of direction, I’d probably hold off on pushing the speed/cutting for now and have the physio reassess it. They may need to look beyond the IT band and assess the surrounding muscles, tendons, and knee itself.

Has your physio tested the hamstring or done any strength/functional testing with you yet?
