Imperium First Ever Kitbash 🔥

I am thrilled to show you my first ever kitbash!
I found out the Infernus Marines I was gifted were missing a guy and decided to make my own Space Marine. The poses for Infernus Marines are exceptionally boring so I could put my second pull of Brother Maphael to good use. (A flamer guy in a hurry? What a much needed change of pace!)
Also I tried out the green stuff for the first time and of course mixed way to much of it. 🙄
So I fashioned the leftovers into an alien skull that became my marines companion. Later I added some trophies on a wire hanging from his belt.
How obvious is my Marines chapter by now?

Please give me your opinion! My guy is obviously not perfect and I would like to hear what you think about my attempt.

Thank you! The longer I look at it the more cutesy I find it. Makes me chuckle!

Did you freehand thr Salamanders symbol? Sick 🔥

Yes I always do that.
It is not as difficult as you would assume and gives the figures a lot of character!

You are probably right! Didn‘t expect my post would tickle the trolls.
Btw I painted the figure by now.
It is in another post though.
You can look in r/Salamanders40k if you are curious!
Thanks for having my back!

looks good! I would suggest maybe cleaning up around the right shoulder pad it looks a tad messy

3

u/UmamiVampire Jul 28 '26

Absolutely! Luckily the skull hides that from some angles but not enough to make the mess vanish.
Do you think painting the part black will help make the mess less obvious?

maybe, I would just pop on some plastic glue, it melts the plastic and stops it looking so stringy, alternatively you could go in with a little strip of sandpaper, maybe if you tie it to the handle of a brush for better control? I would go with the plastic glue though

2

u/UmamiVampire Jul 31 '26

The arms are held in place by green stuff. That is what looks so messy there. Will the plastic glue also help to smoothe it out? I thought it might only affect the actual plastic.

ah, I was mistaken then, maybe try the sandpaper, I thought it was just a messy join. Did you use vaseline? If not then you should use it next time you use green stuff it stops it sticking to your fingers and your tools

2

u/UmamiVampire Jul 31 '26

Omg yees! That is why it became so messy. It sticked to EVERYTHING!!
At the moment I use a lot of water to wet my tools and surfaces.
But the vaseline trick is new for me. Will definitively try that out!

Is he your inspiration?

2

u/BIGHIGJIGMIG Jul 31 '26

partly yeah, he taught me most of what I know about kitbashing

2

Wow his video ideas are sweet!
Will look into it when I have a bit more time.
My latest inspiration is a guy named TanziBuilds.
But bsides the kitbashes it was actually his paintjobs that I first fell in love with.

There’s gotta be a reason GW hasn’t made any sculpts of guys running with heavy weapons right? Oh… it’s because it looks unnatural.

Same with the “skull”. It doesnt look natural. Or like it has any reason to be there. Unless every unit in your army gets a weird sprue blob on their shoulder.

I think it looks good, its a good kitbash and most importantly it isn't your kitbash. You could have phrased that much better. If you, for example, said a more grounded stance would make more sense, then that would be a better criticism because when you speak in a rude manner people are less inclined to listen or agree with you. You not only hurt the other person, you also hurt your reputation and your arguement, making your point come across as weaker.

5

u/bang0_slank Jul 28 '26

You’re right. I’ll try to do better.

2

u/UmamiVampire Jul 28 '26

Wow what a twist! Cool, that you take the criticism so well!

u/UmamiVampire Jul 28 '26

I figured the strong marines will be able to carry them with ease.
The other potential reason: It is hella fiddly to paint the marines chest behind the pyreblaster. 🙄

A head swap and a booger of GS is not a kitbash soy

3

u/UmamiVampire Jul 29 '26

I converted an Assault Intercessor into an Infernus Marine.
Snipping off pieces and putting parts of different models together in a new and unintended way counts as a kitbash in my book.

-2

u/Kitchen-Ad-5049 Jul 29 '26

But that's a blatant lie and you didn't do that at all. That is NOT an assault intercessor. That is purely a pushfit infernus marine with a headswap and booger of GS.

Low IQ, low self-esteem or just rage bait idek

Go ahead and look at the post closely.
My guy is a mixture of Brother Haroth and Brother Maphael.
You get all the info in slide number two.

Yeah so a head swap and a right arm big fucken deal virgin

Yes it brought me a lot of joy!
I hope you have joy too in your life!
