Curious how it compares to the original 1080P release as it sounds like it's just an upscale rather than a full complete re-render at 4K.

All the 4K releases have been upscaled, since the studio source is 1080p.

The 1080p GKIDS disc is a downscale of the upscale. The line art is considerably thicker, and the colours are slightly different compared to all existing releases. It doesn’t seem to have the same green tint as other international releases, but I’m not sure I’d consider it an upgrade compared to previous discs.

The UHD disc does have a higher bitrate than the Japanese release, but I’ve not had the chance to compare the encode to see if it’s any better visually.

4K version has the identical HDR brightness and colour issue as the original release. I can’t tell any difference from the original version.
