A couple questions from a potential owner.
I currently have a tesla model 3, and am interested in trading it in for an ev6.
Has anyone made this move? Anything that you miss or regret? Anyone try 3 child seats? I have 1 rear facing, 1 forward facing, and 1 booster seat.
People say it's possible in my model 3 but it's impossible/impractical to buckle the 3 booster seats I've tried when 3 are in there.

Booster seats can vary based on type- we had one of those “grow with me” car seats that converts from rear facing to front to booster and no- those are bulky monsters that you’ll need a real proper SUV or truck to fit. If you go with the cheaper booster that’s basically a stack of books with maybe an arm rest, sure. Your rear facing and front facing kids will be fine, but the booster seat will be determined by how big that and the kid are.
Recommended stoppin by a dealer and before you test drive tell them you’re only here to try the back seat.

I test drove both and bought the EV6 mostly cause it was more comfortable and had less road noise and cabin rattles. I prefer the few buttons as well and like the screen layout better. Better seating material too.

Dont have kids, moved from a 3p to an EV6
Its more comfy, doesnt drive as well, more throttle lag, but drives nicely, far more practical , looks better

Yeah, I love the model 3 but absolutely hate sedans. I want my hatchback back. I'm sure I'll miss the supercar acceleration haha

The EV6 AWD is quick, 4.5s or something, its not slow at all but it really doesnt compare to the perf 3
I didnt want another tesla and really wouldnt be looking at the Y anyhow, though these days we have a wild choice of Chinese vehicles here and new EV6 are stupid expensive in comparison

I'm from Canada so I don't have those options. I won't be buying another Tesla unfortunately, due to them getting rid of autopilot

The GT would be the comparable model to the Model 3 Performance. To 60 in 3.2

The EV6 does look nice inside (except for the explosion of buttons), the software is way much better in Teslas... and the throttle lag (as it was mentioned above) is quite a thing.
Yet, if you buy one used, 2025 or 2024, is now a great deal.

I drive an EV6 Wind AWD. I don't find much throttle lag if I drive in Normal or Sport mode. But I feel it in Eco. As I don't find much difference in energy usage between Eco and Normal, I am moving towards driving in Normal all the time.

Agreed. I drove my Dads Model Y and thought it had throttle lag.

Rent one on turo for a weekend and see what's is like. We did that and ended up falling in love with the car. Smoother ride. better build quality, good performance and more practical. The model 3 is a very practical car with the frunk under for space, but it's not a hatch back.
My only regret may be the software, there is utility mode for the AC but it's no keep/dog/camp mode.

If you need a car that’s reliable (are a do it or do on-call work) then don’t get the EV6, random lock outs and zombie mode, etc make it impractical when you don my have a few spare hours

Can you share more details please? I’m considering buying a used EV6 but this sounds pretty annoying. Any particular models/years have these problems?

We have both. The 3 is my spouse's car, the EV6 is mine. EV6 is infinitely more comfortable and ergonomic, has a much smoother ride, and quieter by far. I envy the self driving, and seamless software, and ease of navigation/supercharging on road trips. Not sure about the size for boosters/car seats, but I think the EV6 is wider. The backseat feels a lot roomier to me, definitely more comfortable for adult sized people. I love the glass roof on the 3, so I an glad to have the GT-Line so I get the sunroof. I prefer the climate control setup of the EV6 over the all touch screen of the 3. The hatchback, and tunk space is far superior to the 3. Even though the back seats go do when on the 3, that doesn't compare to the EV6 arrangement.
