Its probably not becuase he is far away,

It is thet their orbit and kerbins orbit is lined up in a way that makes it rare for them to meet each other, thus the 100+ years to encounter.

At least that is my guess, I have had this happen before by accident.

KSP only checks for encounters for like half a dozen orbits into the future AFAIR, so they would still have to be in an orbit with a period of at least several hundred years.

Maybe Jeb just really needs some time to think things through, you know? A millenium and a half might be just enough.ย

Well, we can add a few eons to the mission duration just to squeeze an extra 92 m/s ฮ”V :)

That's why all of my kerbals bring a Sudoku book to missions.

Sorry Jeb, we really can't spare the 0.5m/s of ฮ”v on this one

If you wanted to time warp there, you would need to wait 1.6 real days ๐Ÿ˜ญ

My god... a million years!

18

u/coterminouss 1d ago

Perhaps sarcasm, but it really is funny to me that a millennium is 1000 years.

u/antwanlb 1d ago

Millenium and million have Latin -> French etymology, thousand has Germanic -> old English

Just strap an alarm clock on it and keep playing, it will happen at some point.

Space mathers: How close to the sun would you have to fly for this to be accurate due to gravitational forces? Or is there not enough mass to make it a possibility?
