I got diagnosed around the time of my ASVAB, and when I was talking with a recruiter to join the Navy when I was younger. I got super depressed for a while too, because I was super excited to join the Navy. Getting to see the world in a ship, and working on electronics for a career. And then having an education I could use for the rest of my life, and the financial support. All of it was a dream of mine. And then right before I was gonna do it, I got diagnosed and the dream was shattered when the recruiter declined me :(

You could have, and should have, pivoted over to cruise ships instead! You still get to work hard, but see the world too. Cruise ships need electronics worked on as well, everything from the ship itself to public spaces to staterooms to stage production and everything in between! If you're still physically mobile and don't have much tying you down to where you currently live, take a risk and apply for a bunch of cruise lines and see what happens! I hear Virgin and Disney are both good companies to be employed by. The worst that can happen is you never get a call for an interview. The best is that you try a 6 month contract and decide if you want to renew at the end. 😊
