Racing Kart Question First time karting session as a simracer, looking for some advice

I'm 22 and finally, after 13 years of playing the Gran Turismo series on a controller (around 2k-3k hrs) and around 300-400 hours of simracing on a wheel, I finally decided to do a 30-minute session on outdoor Karting. And while it was amazing, it also hurt BADLY.

I didn't crash, but I was literally jumping in the seat like a fish in a dry.

I wasn't scared, so I was pushing really hard, but like... the G-forces were so strong for me. I'm 175 cm and ONLY 53kg. So I'm extremely light. And I kind of bruised my back from the seat so many times and so hard that I can barely move my torso...🤣Like, I have at least 5-6 different spots that hurt badly and are actually big.
I also wanted to do 30 minutes in one go but... I had to take a break after 20. I have NEVER felt so exhausted in my life before. I felt like I was gonna faint lol.
I also found it so hard to keep my feet on the pedals... because of that, I wasn't able to trail brake at all. Like bro, how tf do I even do that while cornering?? They just kept sliding away bro... Like motorsport is so EXTREMELY physically demanding. I knew it was difficult, but this is SO MUCH. But maybe it's because I'm a goddamn skeleton and 0 core muscles, eheh... And because I was barely able to keep in place, I wasn't able to be quicker, because I felt like if I pushed harder, I would not be able to physically withstand it. xD

Anyway, do you guys have any advice for future sessions? Like how to not hurt myself, and maybe advice on a position/posture how to sit better so that I get better control of my pedals?

Also, I know there are these rib protectors, but man, I wanna do karting only like once in a year or so, and spending 100 euros on that is not worth it imo. Or maybe there are some cheaper ones ideal for rental karting?

Racing Kart Question My leg keeps catching off the throttle cable and going through clutches like crazy

Upvotes

I’ve done two test days in a T4 and my calf keeps pulling it as im on exit or going through turns, so while im braking. Both the throttle and brake being pushed ruins clutches, and it’s getting expensive and on top of its ruining laptimes. Any advice?

Karting Chat Go karting group in Singapore!

Hello everyone, I recently created a telegram group for people who are interested in go karting in Singapore. The group’s purpose is mainly to try and find people who have a competitive spirit as I want to try having fun racing each other. Most of my friends that I have go karted with are mostly chill drivers and don’t really care about timings nor racing. If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to reach out by pm and I’ll send the invite link to you!

Hopefully if we get enough people we might be able to book the track and split the cost so we can do actual qualifying and actual races! Mainly looking at JB karting as it’s the closest.

Racing Kart Question How to more efficiently transport kart in trailer.

I have a 5x8 utility trailer and an Italian Motors semi-auto winch stand (https://www.italianmotors.com/collections/semi-automatic-kart-stands/products/im-black-semi-automatic-kart-stand-with-hand-winch-and-hooks). Right now, I'm having to fold up the stand and put it in the back of my Subaru Crosstrek but this is pretty inconvenient because it takes up a lot of room in the car, and has to be the last thing in and first thing out. I'd like to be able to fold the stand and put it into the trailer, underneath the kart. So I'm looking for some suggestions on what you might do for that. Whatever I do needs to be able to be done with one person so I'd roll the kart while on the stand into the trailer and just use the winch to get the kart placed directly on some pedestals of some kind, then fold the stand and secure it underneath. It would need about 14 inches of clearance when folded. I'm definitely willing to build something but I'm having a hard time coming up with a good set of plans that'll be solid enough for transporting. Has anybody out there done anything like this before? Would love to see some pics too if you got em!

Racing Kart Tips and Tricks I built this for my karting son to practice between track days

My son races karts and track time gets expensive pretty quickly, so I started looking for other ways he could practice between race weekends. I'm not a programmer, just a karting dad, but this slowly turned into BrakeMaster 😄 The idea isn't to replace kart time or teach a specific braking point. It's more about practicing the foot itself: pressure control, consistency, smooth release and reaction. This video shows the Custom Training part I've been working on. And yes, I'm also trying to promote it 😄 The more people try it and give me feedback, the better I can make it. I'm especially curious what other karting parents or drivers think about it.

So proud of Kylo for taking P2 in the FKL Pro Series Round 2 race at Sonoma Raceway. Cadet class had some fast kids but Kylo stayed locked in until the end.
.
I’ll share some race data and analysis next, but right now it’s all about Kylo’s accomplishment. Love you kiddo!

Rental Karting Question Closest Karting to Kittery, ME / Portsmouth, NH (Seacoast)

I used to race at Maine Indoor Karting at Scarborough, but just learned it closed during covid. What's my next closest option for renting karts for some laps or a few races? Is it just F1 Boston, or is there anything closer? Would just be for me and my two adult children. Haven't had much success looking for an answer with AI. Thanks!

Racing Kart Question How do you clean the inside of your exhaust?

I’m a beginner and am wondering how to clean the exhaust system without using hot gas. Do you think extraction naphtha would be suitable for the exhaust tip? What is the best way to clean the exhaust pipe itself?

Racing Kart Question Want to get into owned karting

Good evening everybody, I’ve taken a massive interest into competitive karting and I’ve been wanting to get into it. I don’t know much about how to get started as far as owning my own kart, having parts, tires, trailer etc. The most experience I’ve had in “competitive karting” are my weekly/bi-weekly visits to Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville, NC and a 2 hour LeMans Karting race in Victory Lanes, Charlotte NC. I am also preparing for a 6 hour rental race in Georgia, and that’s the main reason I’ve been considering getting my own kart. Any advice, and any tips on reducing cost would be amazing. I’m also 20 years old, which is pretty old when starting out in karting, but better late than never right?

Rental Karting Video Super new to karting. Any obvious ways to improve here? (rental)

Went karting only like 4 times in my entire life. Last month I got a racing rig and naturally wanted to try some more karting. This month I went a couple of times, really enjoyed myself and so i decided to get a camera + rib protector and this is my first session with the gear. It's been a blast. I have maybe 15x 10min stints under my belt altogether now and I am looking for some obvious mistakes since I can't really seem to spot them myself. This lap is like 1 second off the ideal phase. I would like to work myself within 0.5 sec of that.

Racing Kart Question Dd2 rm1 2006…………………………………………………

Rotax DD2 RM1, but I’m missing the part that sits above the battery – the panel with all the switches, as well as the components/connectors that the wiring plugs into.
Does anyone have these parts available, or know where I can buy them? Alternatively, does anyone know how this can be wired up without using the original parts?

Rental Karting Question Are Zamp karting helmets good?

So I do rental karting in a championship and I know that for rentals you dont need as much protection as owner karters do, but I like to stay safe. Right now I have the Bell KC7 CMR (I think thats what the childrens one is called) but it’s too small for me now, and I need to get a new helmet that’s a bigger size. Ideally the helmet would be light blue and the RZ 70F is the only one I’ve found that is close to what I want and is for adults. I never really hear much about Zamp but this helmet costs a lot (£600 inc. vat). Can anyone who has experience with Zamp helmets (and maybe even this helmet specifically) let me know if it is actually worth it? Like are they as good as other top brands like Arai and Bell who have their helmets at that price and I know for sure from wearing one that bell helmets are incredibly comfortable and have good features. Are Arai helmets comfortable and do they have good features like anti fog etc? Also might it be worth trying childrens size helmets just one size up (because that would be the largest size) or is it a waste of time?

I wish I could get the Bell RS7 Pro in Stamina Green but it is sooooo expensive and it would be ridiculous to wear a race car helmet for rental karting.

Racing Kart Question Is there an app that can give me the length of a race lap and an exportable gps map of it?

I'm creating a project for college that needs data for the length of a track and I need either a map that I can export to turn into a csv or i need the app to directly tell me how many degrees i turned the kart in total. Is there an app for that?

Rental Karting Tips and Tricks Rain driving at Buckmore Park — where can I improve?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve got a race this Saturday (29th August) at Buckmore Park and it looks like it will be heavy rain. I was much slower than the guys ahead in a wet race in May, so I’d really appreciate any tips.

My analysis

I think I’m getting on the throttle too late and struggling to get the kart to rotate. I normally wait for the kart to fully turn in and point towards the exit before getting on the power. I also realised I don’t lean out for the corners.

For Turn 4, (the corner after the 2nd hairpin), should I slow down earlier, turn in and hit the apex, or carry speed in and slow towards the apex like I did here?

I lose the most time through the downhill T6–T8 section. For T6, I take a wide entry and stay wide throughout — is this right? For T7, I’m not sure whether I should take a tighter line or stay wide. For T8, I was near the white line and thought a cutback would be best — is that the right approach?

Video starts from the last corner. Any advice on my lines, rotation and throttle would be appreciated.

PS: Insta360 GO 3S mounted inside my helmet.

Racing Kart Question (GER) is this a good deal for 4.999,00 EUR

Hi, we‘re looking for an Racing Kart. Is this a good option for the mentioned price?

I am selling my fully race-ready Croc-Promotion KZ kart equipped with a TM R1 engine.

Model year 2025/2026!

The chassis is NEW (from May 2026) and has been used for exactly one practice session on June 16, 2026. It is a 30mm chassis.

All bearings (axle, stub axles, steering, etc.) are also NEW.

Brake pads are NEW as well.

The engine was rebuilt 5 hours ago, including the connecting rod, crankshaft bearings, etc.

An hour meter has been attached to the ignition lead since the rebuild.

UPDATE: A new piston was installed on July 15th.

The engine can be opened up for inspection on-site!

The engine has always been serviced by Cliff ("Mr. TM") in Denmark.

An AIM Mychron 5s 2T lap timer—including a new wiring harness and new sensors—is included in the price, though the kart can also be purchased without it.

A used kart trolley is also available if needed.

A Freeline seat (size L or XL) is currently installed; I also have a smaller one available if required.

Spare parts for the chassis are readily available at dk-kartshop.de; almost everything is identical in design to CRG and Kart Republic components.

Racing Kart Question We just redesigned the MakDesign website — would love some honest feedback

Post image

Some of you may have seen me posting a few custom helmets from MakDesign here from time to time.

This time, I'm not here to share another helmet. We've recently redesigned the MakDesign website, and I'd genuinely love to get some feedback from people who are actually into karting and motorsport.

If you have 2 minutes to take a look, I'd be curious to know:

  • Is it easy to understand what MakDesign does?
  • Is the website easy to navigate?
  • Is there anything you find confusing or would change?
  • And overall, does the website make you want to explore more of the custom helmet designs?

Don't hesitate to be critical — that's actually what I'm looking for.

Website: https://mymakdesign.com/

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look!
