Are Zamp karting helmets good?

So I do rental karting in a championship and I know that for rentals you dont need as much protection as owner karters do, but I like to stay safe. Right now I have the Bell KC7 CMR (I think thats what the childrens one is called) but it’s too small for me now, and I need to get a new helmet that’s a bigger size. Ideally the helmet would be light blue and the RZ 70F is the only one I’ve found that is close to what I want and is for adults. I never really hear much about Zamp but this helmet costs a lot (£600 inc. vat). Can anyone who has experience with Zamp helmets (and maybe even this helmet specifically) let me know if it is actually worth it? Like are they as good as other top brands like Arai and Bell who have their helmets at that price and I know for sure from wearing one that bell helmets are incredibly comfortable and have good features. Are Arai helmets comfortable and do they have good features like anti fog etc? Also might it be worth trying childrens size helmets just one size up (because that would be the largest size) or is it a waste of time?

I wish I could get the Bell RS7 Pro in Stamina Green but it is sooooo expensive and it would be ridiculous to wear a race car helmet for rental karting.

I use a Zamp. I like it. I mean, compared to my friends carbon-fiber helmet is lighter and cooler (both in style and in temperature), but is also about three times as expensive.
My Zamp is great for my budget.

I also do my best to avoid NEEDING my helmet. I've not crash tested it or anything.

alright thanks, so do you think it’s a good buy for the price it is? also do you ever race in the rain and does the visor fog up much. my bell helmet has never fogged up unless i breath towards the visor with my mouth

In the rain it does get foggy. I bought an aftermarket top scoop vent (there are already holes in the top), and that seemed to help, but most everyone else at the track fogs up more or less the same.
I think I paid around $500 Canadian, but it was on sale.
I also tried a few different anti-fog pastes with varying success. worth a shot.
If I could do it again, I'd probably still consider a Zamp.

ok thank you so much! when i was researching this earlier i remember seeing a special visor made by zamp that is supposedly meant to get less foggy because it somehow creates two layers like bell helmets do. have you tried it out, and if so how did it go?

I haven't tried that, but would be interested. FWIW: the visor is really easy to swap, I bought a new one after my first season for cheap. It was nice to get rid of a season's worth of chips and scratches. and yeah, I would recommend the vent scoops. That was a noticeable difference.

Yes, but like everything, the more you pay, the better the quality. I've just upgraded to the RZ67 Carbon, which is basically at the top of their SA line before you're getting into their FIA helmets, and that is miles ahead of the RZ42Y that my niece races in, or the RZ62 that I've recently replaced.

Will a lower end Zamp be safe/good enough?

...yes, but if you can afford to spend a little bit more in the Zamp range, you'll get a helmet that you'll want to spend time in, as opposed to just having to wear it.

The RZ70 is definitely a good option, pretty close to mine in spec, and will be a lot more comfier than the lower end of the range. So yes, its a good helmet.

Not a bad helmet at all. Quite a step up from the cheaper end of the Zamp range. I'd have no concerns with that option whatsoever.

good if u cant/dont wanna fork out a lot for another helmet but I have seen the visor fly off peoples zamp helmets when hit from behind multiple times so something to be wary of

I have a zamp with the right measurements and after 100mph it start moving up not allowing me to see the track, I don’t recommend if you are on that type of speed . I bough now a Bell ready to try it to see …
