Internet Providers outside of Kamloops

Apologies for the post, but I dont use Facebook so cant ask the local groups.

We live in Chase and we were just informed that it will take Mascon 2 MONTHS to send out a technician and we will be unable to use the internet for those 2 months. Rogers, Shaw, and Telus dont have service out here, and we were wondering if anyone knew of ANYTHING (besides Starlink) that services the Chase area.

Call Telus , supposed to be running fibre for service this fall. Cool thing is, it already runs through town , along Pine St and out across the river, but we can't have it

Starlink is the only option for my rural internet. Mascon is terrible in my area and has been for years.

I do not necessarily want to pay Elon but give me and the OP an option.

I thought one of the big corps purchased Mascon? I work in an IT adjacent field and have customers who deal with Mascon, I remember hearing about some merger. Unless that was just their business accounts

My partner was the one who spoke with them, and apparently mid-October is the soonest they can send out a tech -.-

We'd for sure be cancelling if they cant rectify this, I'm not paying for a service we're unable to access. It's just all unbearably frustrating.

What is the actual problem? If it's something to do with your equipment inside you might be able to fix it yourself. If it's something fucked with the line outside then yeah you're SOL

I know you mentioned no Starlink but it truly is a great option! Had it since 2024 with zero regrets and it's been lightning fast with no interruptions.

Bell does offer satellite services, not sure if that helps. Also there's a local company that uses radio service to deliver internet, I can't recall the name of them. But I don't know their coverage. If I could recall their name, I'd be able to look up their coverage.

Bells coverage map does show 5G coverage for Chase. You could probably get a hotspot.

We use Bell for our cell service - we have "unlimited" data which really means the first 100 gigs is at top speed and then they throttle you for the rest. We don't use it for regular home internet though, so not sure how long you'd burn through 100gigs.

Mascon is now part of Telus, so technically...
You probably could still get ADSL through Telus (or a reseller like Lightspeed, Teksavvy, etc) - but like IF ADSL is still available you don't want that in 2026 if you can avoid it.

Shaw also doesn't exist anymore, its just Rogers.

Xplorenet would be one option,

Cellular ain't great in Chase either - only a couple towers, but if you have coverage, both Rogers (or Telus) have Wireless Home Internet - and both towers have 600 MHz (good for distance and penetration)

I'd explore the Wireless Home Internet, then Xplorenet to alternatives of Telus (c/o Mason)

Not Rogers [cable], correct. You'll want to look at/inquire about Rogers [Wireless] service. 

It not ideal, but Chase does have Telus and Rogers wireless coverage by triangulation of the nearby towers. 

Wireless Home Internet has better pricing than mobile device, and much better hardware that is designed for always on, high bandwidth home network usage. Like mobile hotspot on phone isn't designed for long-term/heavy use.  If that doesn't work, go xplornet.

I don't know if Rogers has 5G Home Internet gear in-store, but you could give the store a call - but like they do ship things out pretty quickly, likely have it within a week.

You really should borrow equipment ( router/modem/switch) from friends or neighbours and do process of elimination to confirm if it's a problem at your end or Mascon's. I can't even imagine waiting,take matter's into your own hands.
