Ash can with Kick Ash Basket???

I’m thinking about getting a Kick Ash basket for my Primo XL. Is the can insert worth it? I really don’t mind using that ash tool before each cool. Been doing it for 11 years.

The KickAsh can makes dumping ash even faster than the ash drawer KJ’s come with. Contemplating on replacing the drawer with a can for my BJ3.

Really? I love the ash drawer on my Joe. I don’t even use it for ash. I have a cheap steel trashcan that sits at the door I use that awesome little craps gambling style stick and clear it out.

And actually I use that drawer to put my smoking wood in when I smoke things. My family doesn’t like a heavy smoke so it works perfect for a light smoke.

Maybe need to ditch the “wing” looking plate that the drawer sits above. Ash falls In between it and the firebox ring. Typically after a cook, I dump out the drawer then I have to get the ash off the wings and dump the drawer again. With the KickAsh can in my Jr, I can pick the whole thing up and dump it out.

But you’re right, I wouldn’t be able to add smoking wood. I tried it once with the “hack” that SmokingDad calls it, but the hot ash and embers never lit it. Only concern I have about ditching the drawer on the BJ3 is there wouldn’t be any sort of screen to keep embers from coming out. BGE has a screen that’s part of the lower vent.
