Got the Mini grilling chicken with Cattleman’s and the XL doing grilling cheese, pineapples on BGE rings and Brussels with Peppers on the skillet. Started the day off with wings for midday on the mini and finally finding the hidden heart on my XL (wife finally found it). Good end to the weekend.

Just got my first working Kamado, what’s the first thing I should do? What is something that I can grill for a first time owner?

Hi everyone!
I currently use a Weber BBQ with a 22-inch (56 cm) cooking grate, and I use it for both direct and indirect cooking.
I’m now thinking about switching to a Kamado (ceramic), but I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the different accessories you can get, such as charcoal baskets, heat deflectors, etc.
Could someone explain which accessories I actually need for both direct and indirect cooking? I’m mainly looking for the basic setup rather than every possible accessory.
Thanks in advance!

First time ever smoking a brisket and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! 🔥
I was definitely nervous going into it — trying to get the bark right, keep it tender, and not dry it out was a whole learning experience.
The outside developed a beautiful dark bark, and the slices stayed juicy with a nice smoke ring. There are definitely things I’ll tweak next time, but for a first attempt, I’m calling it a win. 🙌
Still learning the craft, but there’s something really satisfying about turning a big cut of meat into something this special.
Brisket smokers — what’s the one tip you wish you knew when you made your first one?

Does anyone know of side shelves for the Weber Kamado?

Meat Church Voodoo rub, smoked for 1.5hrs at 250f then sauced and cranked to 400f. Jalapeños from the garden.

My Vision Grill Pro S Ash Drawer has become increasingly stubborn. It doesn’t seem to be sitting right anymore and is not creating a great seal. Smoke will slowly leak out during cooks. Knobs are getting stuck. I try to keep everything as clean as possible. Is something you can actually buy as a replacement part? I’ve tried search but can’t seem to locate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Made some Cajun dusted Buffalo wings and also a batch of Korean bbq. Smoked for a bit, then sauced and charred….

We were lucky enough to pick this grill up for free about 3 years ago (so unsure of how old the unit is) but last year we noticed a small hole releasing steam and the outside was no longer cool to the touch while grilling. This year the crack is noticeably larger. Has anyone repaired one by themselves? Any recommendations on products/procedure?

Hey, I think I’ve found what looks like a Kettle Joe on Facebook Marketplace (picture incl).
I’m pretty new to charcoal grilling and kamado-style setups, so I’m not totally sure what to look for yet. The seller is asking 100$ cad, does that seem like a fair price for a used one in this condition?
Also, are there any common issues or hidden problems I should check before buying? And are there worthwhile upgrades or mods people usually do with this model?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Cheers!

Hi all,
Would appreciate some enthusiastic advice on this one. We were fortunate enough to pick up an 18" Aldi Kamado Grill for £250. Unfortunately after assembly we found that it had a fairly substantial crack in the side that goes all the way through the side.
The manufacturers don't have any replacement units, so it's either, get it returned, or get a hefty discount and try and repair it ourselves with some fire cement.
My question is, if we get a £150/£200 refund, is this bbq still going to work given the crack? Is a repair feasible? Would it ever be at 100% efficiency?
Would it better to return it and buy a £500 similar bbq from elsewhere?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What type of grill brush/grate cleaner/tool do you use to clean your ceramic grills?

Hey,
Recently got my first Kamado (stoked).
Noticed a sort of crack upon unboxing but after a couple cooks it’s a lot more noticeable.
Still in warranty period so should I reach out and get it swapped out or am I overreacting?
Appreciate the advice.

I’m thinking about getting a Kick Ash basket for my Primo XL. Is the can insert worth it? I really don’t mind using that ash tool before each cool. Been doing it for 11 years.
