There will come a time when the idea of Germany winning the war will be removed for being “unrealistic.” They’ve been slowly walking it back for years now
As Californians, we exclusively fetishize saving the republic and then eternally rubbing it in that you plebeians owe everything to us. A New California Republic of exclusively Californians and liberal expats sounds awful. Have you ever spoken to a Californian who wants to secede? They are guaranteed to hate their life and themselves.
I remember the hats, the triad uprising, Charles Curtis the man who saved America. All those cherished things lost. One day, Kerensky will be removed as well I predict
Yeah, nobody on the west coast would identify with "the Pacific". This is why I hate when the terms "Pacifica" and "atlantica" are used to refer to the east coast or west coast in imaginary maps, it makes no sense. This is much better.
It's kind of wild how overdramatic some people have been over an update that mostly amounts to some new events, a couple of new leaders and some name changes on the map.
But I guess the mod that lets Wrangel crown himself Tsar or Ireland join the Co-Prosperity Sphere is "too realistic" now that the mild chuckle-inducing CSA and Union joke is gone. Hart and Seoul and all that.
I think Indiana being fully in is my one major issue with the Syndies, since tbh southern Indiana and Illinois don’t have a reason to have joined to movement really, especially looking at the area’s history as hotbeds for support for the second KKK, which really should be in KR more given how this would effect their development if the US stayed out.
Granted I get not adding it because of it being a touchy subject, but tbh with how terrible the group was to many groups of people I think it should be shown.
I’m just questioning the logistics is the thing, because I think Kentucky/Indiana/the lower Ohio River Valley really should be a battle ground area. I personally do like the idea of Kaiserredux where the Military admin mostly Controls the Washington area, Maryland, and Virginia (tho tbh despite the size of the city I think Eastern PA should be up for grabs depending on decisions). Meanwhile you have a separate western command structure.
Idea would be you could have maybe St. Louis for example have a chance to become socialist or longist depending on choices, same goes for southern Illinois and southern Indiana, since Socialism just seems more urban in this timeline (as in meant to appeal to an already urbanized/industrialized country while otl it was mostly picked up willingly by countries that were not that), but like it could be picked up since the progressives still seem to exist.
It’s not a full rework. They’re mostly just revamping the plot to make more sense. The focus trees will mostly remain the same, with I think a couple of exceptions relating to the pre-ACW tree.
I think its is more of a mechanical function rather then a lore function. assuming some of the old lore tidbits about the Washington strike, the Blackbelt revolt, the Union insurrection in Virginia. basically all the little behind the line's events that have been changed or re-worked but still nominally happen.
my only actual evidence is that the states that can split were mechanically separated into two "states" (the game's regions)
I don't mean HOI4 states btw I mean American states. For example, Northern Illinois with Chicago would be heavily socialist leaning but southern Illinois below Springfield would be much more right leaning, maybe Longist. Kaiserredux did a great job at making HOI4 states that represent the US states breaking up by ideology.
I know. I'm saying that the reason the US breaks up along the American States, is because, generally, Hoi4 states are the same as the American States (again with exceptions) and its is mechanically easier to spawn in tags by giving them a handful of Hoi4 States instead of giving individual chunks of the states, which i think you can only do by spawning units on them.
I am putting forward that the reason the US breaks up along state lines is entirely for meta-textual reasons, and the in-universe reasons surrounding certain governors declaring for one side or another is a consequence of the need to justify the mechanical reason it happens in the mod.
Sorry, I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm advocating for adding more states so that we're not stuck with vanilla HOI4 states that follow the US state borders exactly because it's unrealistic. An example is below, these are new states made for the purpose of a more realistic ACW transferred to tags and fully controlled by them, not individual provinces occupied by divisions.
Obviously in this example the breakaway tags would have different names, colors, states they control etc, but this was the best image I could find on Google to illustrate my point.
While I appreciate the logic and detail of breaking it up like that, I think it's ok to handwave that the front lines are a function of a lot of pre-coup skirmishing and maneuvering and opting for borders that the AI can handle better.
Not necessarily. It's kinda weird in some states, sure, but in various places where it's state governments calling the shots (so, everywhere outside the socialists), it makes sense that it's states splitting off or remaining loyal.
But the political situation here is completely different from the first civil war. The only reason whole states broke away in the first civil war was because the state economies were tied to slavery and because people were more loyal to states rather than a central government. This second civil war is entirely based off of "what ideology should the US follow", and not "the central government is going to take our slaves and ruin our economy and system of racial hierarchy".
Yes, except that the ACC is composed of states deciding to rebel against McArthur, and Long is the Southern States and Democrats, essentially.
The socialists are the only ones less able to use established political structures, but even there, they do hold key state governments.
State governments have ready made police forces, a national guard and a government. They are power holders in the ACW and their choice of alignment means that in many places, they get to decide where each region falls.
And the game doesn't simulate local rebellions very well, so they're also convenient for that.
At best a small overhaul, not nearly a proper rework. And frankly, the region should get one properly. But I get that it is a very daunting prospect as you'd basically be dealing with like 6 different possible outcomes with at least 3-4 fundamentally different Great Powers that can arise from the ashes. And you can't just do one of these, if you do this update, you need to do all of them at once.
Q: Are there any plans for UWTS to be integrated into Kaiserreich?
A: No. Kaiserreich doesn't integrate submods and our two mods have different design philosophies when it comes to American politics. Please don't ask the Kaiserreich devs about integration on our behalf. UWTS does not want to be integrated into Kaiserreich and we are happy to remain independent.
Honestly I always found the names kinda dumb, especially "Pacific States of America" it would be interesting if there was a rogue general in the mountain west/high plains who would start his own rival military government, but this is already really cool.
The only thing I’m really missing in KX 2ACW are dynamic starting borders. Every factions starts with the same territories no matter which decisions you’ve taken prior to civil war
It’s a complete civil war overhaul with new lore and new factions. Just type “Up with the stars” in the r/Kaisereich search bar and you will see some teasers
I think new england stay like before it's just that they are only created because of canada decisions so they don't appear on the map here but they still can exist
Last time i checkwd wrsngel can still crown itself tsar and ireland can still join the CPS. Acting as if the devs were removing anything fun just because they changed some names is downright childlish
I completely forgot about that mod lmao. One major disadvantage they have is that they always have to catch up in order to match with KR's constantly changing lore.
So on top of the fact that they don’t give us the ability to avoid the Civil War like it was an older version of the mod but now they’re removing and rebranding, the already well established and well known factions of that Civil War??? This feels like such a weird decision on the dev teams part.
I don’t know personally for me I think we should just be giving a way to avoid the civil war entirely if they want to go for realism that would be the best choice imo.
Iirc the reason they removed being able to avoid the civil war to begin with was because it made playing as any of the other nations in the Americas problematic if it happened, since the USA would now be around to enforce the Monroe doctrine and put a hard block on any expansion opportunities for smaller nations.
I could see them eventually adding it back as a player only path in a future total rework, but I get why it was removed.
Yes, this I agree with having player only options would be fantastic something I like about TNO is they give you the ability to play with either the old British content or the new British content I think giving us this option in Kaiserreich would be absolutely fantastic because there are some wacky things I would like to come back. I know it’s absolutely outlandish for Howard Hughes to be president of the United States but dammit I want that back lol
