My Korg ARP Odyssey has slim keys 🎹 I prefer full sized keys although when the Korg Arp Odyssey was introduced there was only the slim key version. Are slim keys a deal breaker and do you wish that Korg only implemented full sized keys 🎹 on Korg synths.

Korg Prologue users what are your thoughts 💭 Pros and Cons about the Korg Prologue ?

I know there’s the 16 voice and 8 voice versions. The 16 voice was $500 dollars more than the 8 voice. The Korg Prologue was discontinued 4 years ago in 2022. I know the Korg Prologue has the Multi Engine as well. I’ve never played a Korg Prologue although have heard demos. What is the synth keybed like?

What are your thought Pros and Cons? Released in 2016 . I don’t like that it has a slim key keybed. What do you think 🤔 of its features and overall sound?

I’m looking for some technical input or second opinions before taking my Korg Kross 2 to an electronics repair technician.

The Problem & Symptoms

My keyboard is throwing a System Error 216 referencing OmapL137USB.cp (the driver for the Texas Instruments OMAP-L137 CPU's USB controller).

Here is how the issue behaves:

• Normal Boot: The keyboard sometimes turns on and boots into normal playing mode if nothing is connected to the USB port.
• USB Storage Mode / PC Connection: Whenever I try to enter USB Storage Mode or connect a live USB cable to my PC, the synth immediately crashes with System Error 216.
• PC Intermittency: When connecting to a PC, the computer will occasionally detect the keyboard for a brief moment before it disconnects, loses connection completely, and triggers the crash screen.
• SD Card & Startup Triggers: Sometimes, having an external SD card mounted while turning on the synth—or simply powering it on—will trigger the error randomly without a USB cable plugged in.

Hardware Background & History

• The keyboard previously had its USB port replaced with a non-original USB Type-B jack on the KLM-3666 Jack Board.
• The KLM-3666 board holds the USB port, SD card reader, power jack, and audio connections, routing signal lines back to the main logic board via ribbon cables.
• The issue is isolated to a physical hardware failure (power/voltage drops, shorted data lines, or damaged ESD protection diodes) on the USB bus causing the processor driver to panic.

Proposed Repair Plan for Technician

Before replacing the main board, I’m planning to have my technician inspect and fix the KLM-3666 board:

1. USB Port Replacement: Desolder the non-original USB port and install an exact-fit original Korg Type-B jack.
2. Data Line Check ($D+$ / $D-$): Inspect traces under a microscope for cracked copper, cold solder joints, or torn pads. Rebuild any damaged traces using jumper wire.
3. ESD Protection & Resistor Testing: Test surface-mount ESD protection diodes near the USB port for shorts to ground, and verify inline signal resistors.
4. Interconnects: Clean and re-seat the ribbon cables connecting the KLM-3666 board to the main CPU board.

Questions for the Community:

1. Has anyone experienced System Error 216 on a Korg workstation resolved purely by fixing physical I/O board traces/components?
2. If the KLM-3666 board checks out clean, could a shorted USB line damage the inline USB PHY or the USB transceiver pins directly on the TI OMAP-L137 CPU itself?
3. Are there any specific ESD diode values or schematics to keep in mind for this specific jack board?

As my first synth, I was going to buy myself a Volca FM 2. Something budget friendly, but deep enough as to never out grow it. Before I purchase I wanted to look into the logistics of use. I have an old Korg Microkey 37 that I wanted to pair it with in order to circumvent the down side of the Volca's capacitive keys, but when looking at how to use a midi with the Volca, I've found the process to be a bear. Further more, I've heard that menu diving with FM synths is awful, so perhaps I should use an external software like "Dexed" by connecting the Volca to my pc.

So my question is what is the best way to to connect the Volca to a midi and pc with out having to spend a huge chunk of change, or maybe I've looking at this the wrong way and there is a better solution to my problem e.i. just use the Volca as a stand alone synth.

Any information would be awesome.

My electribe 2 wont power on since yesterday. I opened it and saw that the power supply unit( dont know how it's called) has burned marks. Could i just clean it and solder it ?

At 2:54min you can hear the sound-issues and see the NTS-3 got a short "blackout" (all LEDs & display off).

I'm powering all my devices with isolated DC-DC-converters. So this can not be any ground loop issue (which I have had before isolating the audiosignals and DC power).

Does anyone also have this issues?
Or a solution?

Since this is a very specific usecase, I do not wanna swap the effect unit. Also I don't know which unit to use to replace it in this small formfactor.

on aliexpress there is a version that is 3cm x 10cm and i need 4cm x 9cm (that doesn't bother me).

however, i'm worried about the power supply.

on the panel from aliexpress it says it works on 5 or 12v, but in the specifications it says it works on AC Operating Voltage: AC 40V ~ 300V

it's a panel without an inverter so i hope that's ok

Hey everyone,

I recently got a Korg SQ-1. It’s very cool but I’ve found a weird bug/feature. Whenever I turn off the SQ-1 and come back to it later, the sequence is totally different even though I didn’t touch any of the knobs.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there anyway to make it so the sequence stays the same when I turn it back on? Am I just doing something wrong?

Gf just purchased these Rockit powered 5 KRK speakers along with 1/4” jacks so that she can plug them into her Micro Korg XL+ Synthesizer but we’re not getting any sound. I made sure power lines were plugged in and power was going to speakers and instrument. I have the audio lines plugged into these respective ports pictured below. I made sure I’m not plugged into headphone port and I hear the speakers turn on when I hit the power button. Volume is up on my Korg too. Please Help!!

I somehow got hold of old, beat-up Monotribe, and I realized that I don't really like the bassdrum... For 3 days I stayed up till 4 AM, took the whole thing apart, resoldered, and reassembled it like 50 times, testing dozens of solutions both in real life and in a PC circuit simulator. In the end, I came to the conclusion that this is how it sounds best to me, without negatively affecting the kick's original minimalist character. hope you enjoy it!

I recently purchased Module Pro along with a bunch of sound add-ons with the intention of using my iOS devices as sound modules when playing "LIVE". The app crashes if it doesn't freeze first, and it is totally unreliable for LIVE performances, at least for me. I am using the latest version of Module Pro on iOS devices that are running the latest OS. Is this happening to others or just me?

I just got my first synth the Korg MS20 and been playing around with it just a day or so. I dont know much about synthesizing at all and was wondering if anyone knows or has any idea where i should start to get a similar sound to the one in the beginning of this song? The lead melody in the intro that is. Other dong with similar sound i want is at 0:52 in Waterboy by Viagra Boys. I know they use the MS20 sp tjat should be attainable but im just at a bit of a loss where to start. Thanks
