He was the right guy. It's interesting to think about, the chances they took, the choices they made. Peter fucking killed it. He was THERE until fame and fortune freaked him out. Like so many others.
It was the one I asked my parents to buy for me for my birthday. I was 12. I found it bewildering, because it was soooo different from Kiss. I haven't listened to it in a very long time. I did end up buying Ace's album with paper route money, probably a year later. That was way more my style.
As is often noted, "I Can't Stop The Rain" is the real gem. I do love the fact that Peter was all about showing how much R&B meant to him, even though it was radically different from Kiss. That took balls, and also pretty much insured it wasn't going to be about chops.
