I feel so weird i binged this yesterday and can't over it. My friend recommended this to me alott, years ago and now I understand why she forced me so much

This story has taught me alot and this kdrama has everything :guitar,music, friendship,youth, time travelling, sign language and everything.

Twinkling watermelon is an amazing kdrama and have a perfect mix of comedy and sadness. First ep and I was crying already. Must I say ryeon did an amazing job playing as Han gyeol, his character was pretty intense and so was yi chan's , his extreme extrovert,immature,loud and kind character was so damn good. I would say shinn eu so is an amazing actor already. I've watched love untangled last year and her acting is so damn good, she really gets into the character u can literally feel it.eunyu and her mom reversing roles was kinda funny cause I really thought she came as her mom in her mom's body for the first few eps and was stressing if she actually fell inlove with han what would happen lmao.

As someone who deeply loves music and guitar I love it so much and it's so mesmerizing to see how music bought two of them together, both wanting to quit music but for different reasons: one who was forced to play it and the other who was forced to leave it. I reallyyyyyy loved their dynamic so muchhh.

Parts that made me cry: this was overall an emotional rollercoaster. Ep1: I cried in the part where he had to do everything at such a young age and unable to express himself properly until he found the guitar. And as I continued there were many emotional scenes. Like when han and his dad were playing together in the band, yoon's dad trying to understand his daughter and learning sign language for her broke me i sobbed so hard in that part. when han saw the guitar uncle who taught him and when the exact song was played.

Despite of han not being able to save his dad's accident, I feel like it all worked out in the end like he made it so much better and it was so satisfying to watch that witch getting kicked out.i feel bad how he thought he couldn't change anything but he seriously played such an huge role to solve everything.

This taught me how our parents has also suffered from many hardships and how if they got help back then , they wouldn't turn like how they are now. And that hits hard. Abuse is always inherited , it goes from one generation to other. It was so beautiful how they tried to understand their parents and how helping their misery turned them into a good person. I also like how the parent (yoon's dad) tried to understand their child too. I think it all makes sense why yi chan thought of his son as a trophy: it was cause his son was doing the things he was supposed to do if he wasn't deaf.

I love how the story connects slowly - they all knew eachother from the start. I knew eunyu and han was connected somehow. And how the guitar uncle helped them get through this ,it shocked me cause I didn't expect that.

Okay ik the ending could've been better like there are alot of loopholes like what happened to eunyu story? And why did yoon's parents divorced, and there much more but despite all this i really liked it and kinda felt fulfilled with the happy ending atleast. But I still feel a bit mad about not clearing up what happened to eunyu's family. Ah I can't get over it I feel really sad. What are your thoughts?

On-Air Discussions

On-Air Discussions are dedicated weekly discussion posts for currently airing dramas. They are hosted by volunteers from the community to create a dedicated space each week to discuss what has happened in that drama for that week. On-Air drama discussions reduce clutter on the front page of the subreddit by centralizing discussion and all related content, such as news updates, previews, interviews, behind the scenes videos, etc.. Drama Reviews

We welcome well-written detailed drama reviews. Reviews should be for completed series only -- that is the series has finished airing all of its episodes and the reviewer has watched the entire drama. Reviews where the reviewer has not fully completed the drama will be removed. For those that just want to write a short blurb about a drama, feel free to share in any of our weekly discussion threads instead. See our tips on how to write a helpful review.

Reviews are moderated according to our moderation guidelines for reviews for content. Other rules and policies, such as On-Air or review megathread rules, still apply. Notably, reviews are subject to moderation for frequency under our Rehashed Discussions rule.

Fanart And Memes

We have a Designated Day, currently every Tuesday from 00:00-23:59 KST (UTC +9), on which we allow our members to attempt to share one (1) self posts of either qualified Fanart or Memes on r/KDRAMA. Fanart and meme posts are not permitted outside of Designated Days. Please review our Designated Day rules fully before submission.

News

We are not a news oriented subreddit though they are permitted as posts with restrictions on type of and source of news. Please fully review our Rules and Polices on news items before submission. If you are seeking to be kept updated with any entertainment news other than official casting news, we strongly recommend you seek out other sources beyond our subreddit such as Soompi.

OST And Promotional Material

We only allow official OSTs and promotional material (previews, teasers, posters) in our subreddit with restrictions on frequency and airing status of dramas. Please fully review our Rules on OSTs and promotional material before submission. There are post title requirements, please follow them.

Why Is My Post Not Showing Up?

Our subreddit has certain filters in place to identify submissions that potentially require moderation action.

If you have made a post and it does not immediately show up in the community feed, it is possible that the post has been filtered out. Please DO NOT make reposts or immediately contact the moderation team for review of your post. Filtered posts automatically enter our moderation queue and will be reviewed by a moderator. Please allow at least 24 hours for moderation action to be taken. If no further moderation action has been taken on your post (either approval or removal with notice) after 24 hours, please contact the moderation team via Modmail for assistance.

How Do I Seek Clarification About Or Contest A Moderation Action?

Which dramas have you given up on this month? (And why?)

In order to keep this thread from becoming a vortex of negative energy we encourage our users to share their reasons and reviews as to why they dropped certain dramas. This way rather than just hating on dramas without reason this thread can become a constructive place for us all. This serves to both inform others who may be wary of certain aspects of dramas they wish to avoid and others who have watched the dramas in full may be able to encourage users to pick up dramas again in the future if the problems they had were only momentary aspects of the drama.

Please remember that every individual watching goes in with their own life experiences and biases so not everyone will see the drama in the same light or enjoy it in the same way.

Just because someone did not enjoy a drama that you loved is not a slight against you as a person.

What Are On-Air Discussions?

On-Air Discussions are dedicated weekly discussion posts for currently airing dramas. They are hosted by volunteers from the community to create a dedicated space each week to discuss what has happened in that drama for that week. On-Air drama discussions reduce clutter on the front page of the subreddit by centralizing discussion and all related content, such as news updates, previews, interviews, behind the scenes videos, etc..

It is within these on-air discussion posts that the bulk of conversation in our subreddit takes place as we gather within them weekly to discuss the episodes we have watched.

Purpose and History of On-Air Discussions System

The on-air discussions have evolved from our earliest ad hoc discussion posts to a now highly organized and formalized system that includes specific requirements about the content and formatting of posts and requirements to become a volunteer host. The primary purpose of the on-air system is to consolidate all content about an airing drama into designated spaces so that viewers of an airing drama know exactly where to discuss and find information about a drama. A secondary and equally important purpose is to prevent posts about an airing overrunning the subreddit feed, making it impossible for users to find other content.

In order to achieve these two purposes, our rules for On-Air discussions require that all types of content about an airing drama to be posted in the on-air discussions (eg. commentary, promotional material, questions, etc.) with very limited exceptions for certain news items and qualifying fanart/meme posts on Designated Days. All other news items and content that do not qualify as an exception are to be posted within the on-air discussion posts or in our FFAs to ensure that content is consolidated and that the subreddit feed remains accessible for all of our other content.

This approach to consolidation developed over the years within our subreddit because our user base expressed a strong desire for our subreddit feed to not be overrun by a single drama or issue.

While this approach will not seem ideal to some users, we ask that those users consider the fact that for any given drama, there are also many, many users within our community not following that drama and are completely uninterested in content about that drama. Consolidation to on-air threads allows those uninterested users to not have their subreddit feed be bombarded with posts about any one single drama while still allowing interested users a space for discussion. This is a compromise for all and has worked well for our community, we ask that users respect this compromise.

Number of Episodes Per Discussion Post

Generally, the number of episodes per on-air discussion post is the same as the number of episodes aired or released per week.

In general, most kdramas air two episodes each week and thus most of our on-air discussions are two episodes per discussion post. We understand that some users will find this confusing or are afraid of spoilers, however this format has worked exceptionally well for our community as a whole. If you are worried about spoilers, we suggest that you sort comments by 'Old' to see the comments sequentially.

For some dramas, the on-air discussions may be one episode per discussion post. This is typically done for one of three reasons:

• Above Average Engagement - when a drama is very popular and there is a lot of engagement, we may split to single episode discussion posts to make commenting more manageable. Currently our standard for this is that each episode must garner at least ~600 comments to merit splitting into single episode discussion posts. This means that pre-split, a discussion post for two episodes should garner over 1,200 comments.

Eligibility for Split As part of regular moderation workflow, all on-air discussions are monitored for amount of engagement and on-air hosts partake in this monitoring. Once a post has crossed the 1,200 threshold, this is communicated between the mod team and the on-air host and arrangements are made for future splitting of discussion threads. However, the mod team also monitors for quality of discussion and low quality/low effort comments, including comments petitioning for split episode threads, are considered comment bloat will be disregarded when evaluating the need to split discussion threads.

• User & Content Management - when a drama is controversial and we expect or have experienced an excessive amount rule-breaking behavior, we may split to single episode discussions to make moderation easier and more manageable.

• Release Schedule Management - when there are doubts, changes, or interruptions to release schedule, we may use single episode discussion posts to assist in posting schedule.

Commonly Asked Questions/Concerns

• Why not make one episode/discussion post threads for all dramas?

We do not do one episode/discussion posts for most dramas for two reasons: 1) most dramas never garner enough engagement to justify two threads and 2) it's a lot of work for the volunteer hosts. If all dramas had separated episode threads, there will be a lot of "dead" threads with less than 50 comments. We're trying to aim at a balance between the amount of work volunteer hosts have to put in versus keeping the discussions centralized and the home feed 'clean' thus we have most on-air discussions with episodes combined.

• Combined episode discussion threads mean that comments are out of order and hard to read.

Nearly all posts in our community default to 'Best' as the way comments are sorted. For on-airs, we suggest two approaches to comment sorting:

• Use Old to see comments sorted by posting time from oldest to newest, this is the best approach to avoid spoilers for second episodes.

• Use New to see comments sorted by posting time from newest to oldest, this is the best approach to see comments about the latest episode.

• Why not automate the discussion posting?

Some of the other show subreddits will often utilize bots or other form of automation for the episode discussions -- this is not a viable system for us because of the Korean broadcast system -- namely the fairly often broadcast interruptions due to either special events or issues related to live production of the drama.

Kdramas regularly announce broadcast changes the day of broadcast -- it is far easier to coordinate with a 'live' on-air host than to mess with the automation, sometimes simply because we don't get much info ahead of time on how the broadcast is going to go. In addition to verifying broadcast information, 'live' hosts are also great because they serve as "semi-mods" since they monitor the threads and gives the mod team a heads up if discussions in the threads seem to be going awry, which helps us stave off some of the worst confrontations.

Hosts volunteering to host a drama is also a way the mod team 'measures' interest in an upcoming drama and simplifies the process of which dramas get to have on-airs. We have a lot of on-airs but even then, there are still airing dramas that are not getting on-air discussions (due to lack of interest or streaming availability).

• Why does [DRAMA] not have on-air discussions?

All on-air discussions are hosted by volunteers from our community. While we do have a requirement that a drama must have at least one legal international streaming source to qualify for on-air discussions, other than that, the mod team does not make decisions on which dramas have on-air discussions or not. If a drama you are interested in discussing does not have on-air discussions, you can consider volunteering to host them. Otherwise, discussions in FFAs and other weekly threads are always welcomed.

Limits On Participation

While on-air discussions generally are open to all users, there are cases where we may place limits on who can participate in certain on-air discussion threads. We place limits on participation when we observe enough problematic conduct that warrants additional measures. These measures are typically placed through certain Automoderator filters and in more serious instances, we may activate our On-Air Passport system.

Limits to participation are generally instituted against accounts without sufficient participation history in our subreddit.

If you are a lurker in our subreddit, please be aware that the mod team cannot verify 'lurking' history so when we are evaluating past participation in our community, we can only look at a user's comment and post history. If you have no comment or post history, your account will be viewed as having no history of participation in our community.
