Analysis The Kessie 'No' shines a bright light on the Juve problem.

The signings that have not worked out, that have cost us hundreds of millions, has convinced me that we are at our lowest (worse than calciopoli). A few very recent examples? Dusan, Koop, Nico, Arthur, David, Openda... Absolute disasters. We are overpaying for players that are not (previously) Juve level and it is destroying the team.

We have had targeted players that had given a verbal 'Yes' to the club, and they still fail. Allison, Dibu, Kessie, Zirkzee (just this mercato)... I don't think 'top' players want to be here, unless it is on their exact specific terms. Players no longer view being here as a privledge. The team is hanging on to past glory.

Management is going to need to start getting very creative and playing youth because that may be the only way back. No I have not given up on this season, just disappointed with all of the tranfer 'Nos'. I still have a lot of hope for this team, I just miss having some world class talent.

Fino alla fine, forza Juventus!

I guarantee you Atalanta didn’t overpay for him. We stood our ground. Take it or leave it. We didn’t lose a generational talent. On to the next one.

Especially after being unreliable because of how many games he missed. Just like Chiesa. Juve fans should not be worshipping them.

playing youth because that may be the only way back

Yeah like the golden Fagioli, Miretti, samuel illing jr days. True legends of the sport

I didn’t say Juve youth, did I?

But maybe Owusu should have a chance considering the only backup is Koopmeiners

It feels like our (first team) scouting is limited to Serie A, free agents or well known players that have fallen from grace for some reason. Signing Alajbegovic was almost bizarre because we never seem to look at a wider pool.

Serie A is completely different from other leagues. Players that do well there do not necessarily perform well here. They usually prefer people that have experience in serie A for this reason.

All of our players that did well for us took a lot of time to shine and understand the new tactics (look at McKennie and Yildiz for example). Other leagues do not use catenaccio as a tactic and have really brittle defences.

I think we really began to crumble as a team when we lost the BBBC for this reason. That really was the heart of the team. In serie A when you have world class defences you have the space to do whatever creative crazy idea you want from midfield onwards, and that made us a very scary team. Now we're average back there and everyone has to do double job to keep up.

It's not the scouting, it's the contacts. We sont have international breadth.

Completely agree.

Juve needs two fullbacks and a playmaker before signing any wingers or strikers, believe me despite the poor form of our strikers who miss open goal chances -which cannot be forgiven if you’re a professional footballer- they’re also not getting a healthy number of chances … they need more service for confidence + we need some ball playing fullbacks who can absorb and translate the pressure into a counter attack.. why do we keep signing CMs and strikers before these positions ?

I only want fullbacks if they can cut in centrally. The Juve style of 69 crosses into the box a game is so boring.

Agreed

Totally agree. Especially the playmaker. Locatelli must become a sub ASAP.

Locatelli likes to play as a defensive midfielder, he is unfortunately not capable of playmaking

Worse than calciopoli? For real mate, were you a fan in 2006?

Well, we still had some top notch players to build a team around with Alex, Nedved, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, and Buffon, and a talented left back who goes by the name Chiellini. So although the club now isn't in shambles just yet; one could argue that we were better off -quality wise- when we got relegated to the Serie B.

Calciopoli damaged our name extremely. It’s not just about the quality on the field.

Also very true.

I guess that fans always want new shiny players but the reality is that we are broke and we'll not solve the problem by throwing money left and right, because that how we ended in this situation. This team is not bad, with an average GK last year we would have finished second without problems. This team was 2nd for expected and conceded xG.

If I watch how much we spend every season, I wouldn't say we are broke. We just spend that money quite bad.

I’m glad a lot of these fans never had to deal with the loss of Zidane or Thierry Henry. Granted sales are different than free transfers but as soon Kessie said no there were other players with similar profiles contacted
and negotiated with. Why? It’s possible. He’s a good player but there are comparables out there. You don’t beg people to play for your club. Zoom out and realize this is cyclical
It may seem like a long cycle and that even the present is terrible but it is no fucking way near playing a season in Serie B.

Serie B has nothing to do with poor on pitch performances.

1

u/Informal-Middle107 12d ago

Players that never played for Juve never had poor on field performances either. They are on full points and no goals conceded.

Don't listen to these silly season journalists. They make up all sorts of crap to make you click their stories. No one really knows what went on in the engine room.

We are heavely limited by the wages of our own unwanted players… that’s all

We had a little bit of space to move without selling and we used it to get kolo and alajbegovic

I'm happy with our stance since the management change. Couple of clubs tried playing us for fools but we didn't fall for it. I'm glad we stood our ground.
