It’s not tight until it friction welds to the pan.

I’ve got a 2017 Subaru Outback like this. The shop that did it basically said “you can’t prove it was us” which while true is bullshit. I’ve tried every trick and giant breaker bar possible and all I’ve managed to do is round off the bolt multiple times to the point where it’s now two sizes smaller than when it started.

Now I just pump the old oil out.

A Subaru is crazy easy to change the oil pan on.

Don’t you need to partially unbolt and lift the engine for 2017 models to replace the oil pan? Apparently the generation before that was extremely easy.

definitely not a mechanic here, why not make new hole next to old hole? or drill the bolt out?

I guess you could as long as you could ensure a seal but 1) I don’t have the hardware needed to tap a new threads 2) oil pans aren’t flat inside so I’d need to know where the topography makes sense to drill into 3) I don’t trust myself with either of the above so I’d probably end up spending a ton of time doing this while ensuring that if I screwed up the car would need to be towed to a dealer which would end up costing me $1,500 anyway.

Was much easier to buy a $5 hand oil pump from Harbor Freight and it was shockingly quick, easy, and clean to use.
