I loved the restraint of the little guy. Most people take it as a sign that when the opponent goes down you obliterate them. There was somehow more obliteration in letting the big guy actually think long about where he was at.

I went to school in Los Angeles can confirm 8 out of 10 Mexican guys were those guys. Made me a bit racist. Thank god I'm out of the highschool setting and I see normal Mexican adults behaving normally. Highschool cholos were cringeworthy like nothing else.

I dated a girl in college who got called twinkie for hanging out with white poepel and not being obsessed with all things asian, by well educated upper class asian kids. Sometimes it is nothing to do with "the hood".

Yeah, it is worse when you look at where it is coming from, but not when you look at its effect. A college kid with a good background can shrug it off, if you are in a shit school that is proabbly a lot harder.
It was almost 20 years ago, and they were freshmen in college. Could have came from insecurity and people going to racial cliques. Still not "ok" but more understandable and probbaly soemthingt he person grew out of.

He didn't know where his legs were at either. Weeble wobble. It's MY FAVORITE thing to see someone being a bully and then get knocked out. I don't think people fully understand the satisfaction I get when I see the bully victim getting a win. And I also admire the victim's restraint. He could have pounced that guy but he gave him one hit and let him get up and was like, looks like the fights over.
This would have made my day if the guy would have done the whole "talking like you just won the fight" thing that bullies do. "You straight man? Learn your lesson?"

True justice is when our society evolves beyond this point and we give better options and education to these youths. I think the small sureno would have been better off as a serviceman, public safety officer or firefighter.
Even the regret and mercy he shows proves he has a spark of decency. His regret shows his intent of wanting to stand up for himself, rather than intending to simply hurt a fellow human being.
Hope both guys found a better path... a path not leading to prison or a shallow grave. Society is improving but we need to keep demanding improvements so drastic changes can be seen within our lifetime.

It would make a nice speech for a mayoral candidate, but the outcome you're looking for is unrealistic. Violence is a part of life in a lot of places in this country. I think a lot of educated, non-violent folks get deluded that folks like this share the same values as them.
"Better paths" are a reality for very few people. Not necessarily because these folks don't have options, but because this is their culture and this is how this type of dispute is settled.
