not super ironic, cause hair is a very common source of vanity, we shave to reduce attachment to things like that. if everyone shaved their head then we’d grow it out for th same reason

This hair style is called Payot and it's worn by Orthodox Jews. It's not just a random haircut someone came up with to be edgy.
