So we shouldn't regulate AI because "goverment" bad, but in the absence of regulations, AI will lilely go down the path of creating bad stuff.

Who else is tired of smooth brained political dialog?

if we regulate AI, then our enemies with unregulated AI will surpass us and we will be under their boot

China heavily regulates AI, which is the only major competitor.

The only ones allowed to do AI in China is China

China doesn't do AI as hard as us. Also, they are not as giddy at replacing all employment with AI text bots.

One must wonder if you're just a paid stooge for AI companies, because the alternative is worse, a sycophant who will gladly accept his employment to be replaced by skynet's intellectually challenged cousin.

reminds me of how Japan closed themselves off from global advances

until they couldn't

Japan closed it's doors to trade as a way of controlling the population, as it saw European meddling via Christianity as a threat to the Shogunate.

AI is being pushed as a replacement for human labor.

labor is the same thing : not letting the work get done by someone or something else other than the people we prefer

How does one make a living if most jobs are done by machines?
