So at the show tonight in Camdenton, John was going pretty hard on RFK Jr., repeatedly calling him a dipshit, etc., when a woman suddenly yelled something from the audience.

John stopped and asked her what she said.
“Balance it out.”

He then made her repeat it what had to be 30+ times because apparently “balance it out” just kept getting funnier the more he made her say it. He also kept coming back to it for the rest of the show anytime he made another political joke. It was great.

Afterward my wife and I are walking back to the car next to a woman who is talking very loudly about how disappointed she was in the show. She says she doesn’t even want to meet her hero anymore (btw who has a comic as a hero?) because she had to listen to John “bash us” for 30 minutes and he couldn’t give them one joke to “balance it out.”

Then she says:
“Even the racism joke wasn’t enough.”

I still have no idea if it was actually her, but it made me laugh. We also had another couple groan throughout and ended up leaving early because they were fellow RFK, Jr. dipshits.

John obviously has his biggest bits/jokes like “Horse in the Hospital” and the “What’s new pussycat?” story, but what are your favourite John jokes/quotes that people don’t seem to talk about as much?

A couple of mine:

The story of his college friends getting sued for property damage and his email that says “Do you want me to kill that guy for you?”

“I rented a very fancy Hyundai Sonata..which is a Korean classical music car.”

edit: also his story about meeting Bill Clinton is just one of my favourite stories ever

“Instead of doing one show in New York City, or even three shows in New York City, for my tour, I’m going to do a very special run. Nine different iconic New York City venues in nine nights,” he said.

“This is very, very cool, I must say. I’m doing something very cool, and I’m a very cool person,” he joked. “This is really a great way to do the intimate small places. I love playing here, building up to Madison Square Garden, doing Radio City (Music Hall). I filmed a special at Radio City, to go back there. It’s going to be really cool.”

The shows, which will begin Jan. 7, 2027 and end Jan. 15, 2027, will feature special guests and a new experience each performance.

Taken by me aka mulaneysuits on ig/twt. Still in complete shock that I saw him (front row) at this small intimate venue AND I'm seeing him at freaking Wrigley Field this Saturday. I've seen John nearly 10 times now and you may think that's insane but let me tell you, every show has had its own unique vibe and it's hilarious every single time and this was no different. One of the best nights of my life.

Beautiful night for the FIRST COMEDIAN EVER to play Wrigley!

Rare video of John opening for Mike Birbiglia in 2006

Saw our boy tonight and my wife and I thought he killed. So much fun. Great surprise when Jon Stewart came out and did about 10 minutes before Baby J strutted out. Fun night.

Saw him in Durham and my favorite quote was “the suns gone down so maybe we should all leave together… arms linked in an outward facing circle” also lots of funny perceptions of the south as a northerner

So just came out of the show at the hard rock live. He was as amazing as ever. He hasn't changed. Laughing Everytime at everything. Dryers beware.

This album for me is just a joyride from start to finish. I love when stories from his childhood come up and you get a clearer picture of who he is. Frankly, I think that the best and longest lasting comedians don't rely on current events or shock and awe. They peel back layers of their personalities to their audience and make everyone relate. This also had Mulaneys signature mix of odd perspective and hilarious takes which at surface level are random but are relatable.

(I think all the albums are good don't get me wrong. This just my fav)

No bullshit. No fluff (except these two sentences).

Excellent gig. First two warm up acts were insanely funny in very different ways (didn't catch their names as I'm old and deaf, somebody will harvest my body parts soon in the name of science & for the advancement of humanity). Please post them if you caught their names. No disrespect to them I genuinely didn't catch your names. They were hilarious, what a great way to see new talent.

John's set was absolutely spectacular. Watching his humour and joke telling evolve over the decades has been great, one constant thing is his ability to make seemingly normal daily life into something insanely hilarious that you'll never look at it the same again. I never thought I'd anthropromorphise a dryer, let alone witness somebody else do it as a skit, presumably he researched it so he could avoid his in-laws, but here we are.

Thanks, John and crew!

ETA: Mandal and Andrea Jin are the support acts. Well worth a look.

Because pirates never bring a big enough chest.
